Well, I think Interscope might have something to do with that. Maybe they gave Em a full creative control IF he releases it on time for the 2015 Grammy Awards.

I agree with him, if Eminem releases his album before setember, it will be a fight between GKMC, Eminem's album and Yeezus for RAOTY
I think Interscope want to dominate the next two Grammy awards and so far, GKMC has it on lock, it may be the first hip hop album to win 'The Album Of The Year' Award

2 albums dominating the grammy awards > 1 album dominating the grammy awards and it's obivous that Iovine wants Kendrick to win, he basically called him the most important rapper to come in a long time.

Eminem can win the grammy 2015 if he drops his album after September and Kendrick can win the Grammy 2014. It would be a clever move from Interscope, the grammy usually boost your album sales and they are easily the most "prestigious" awards in the music industry.
It's the first time that Interscope have 2 serious contenders for these awards and it would be amazing for the label to dominate both the grammy 2014 AND 2015.

Eminem is one of the most popular artists in the world and the industry wants to see kendrick winning because it would mean a lot for hip hop, it would mean that this genre doesn't have to be compromised anymore.
Iovine is a smart man, he is behind the 2 artists and he knows he can have 2 golden boys in his label, instead of one.

Eminem will still win grammy if he releases album in the same time as Kanye will. I think, it's not about albums quality(except Encore lol) or whatever. Its about the whole music industry and Eminem will win grammys as long as he stays relevant, he got the image of the unbeatable rapper in all terms, so as long as he is in the game - why should people who really rule the world of music invalidate his status?

I'm not degrading Em in any shape or form nor am I saying that he's afraid of competition.

I'm simply saying that Interscope might have suggested for him to wait until the deadline so Kendrick can get as much shine as possible. It does not mean that Em will necessarily win if he dropped his album tomorrow, it would just be a simple move by Interscope to give Kendrick a better chance at winning than when competing with Em AND Kanye.

No way would Em back down like that, what you are suggesting is a direct diss from Jimmy to Marshall.

If Eminem can top the success of recovery, he'll be nominated for AOTY and considering that gkmc was #1 or #2 of almost every end-year list, it's pretty safe to say that kendrick is going to be nominated for AOTY too, just like mbdtf in 2010 and Channel Orange last year.

No it has nothing to do with the Grammys.His album simply isnt done yet.

If EMs album was finished tomorrow or in a couple of weeks,you really think Interscope will hold it back so Kendrick/EM might win Grammys in 2014 2015? Doesnt make any sense.

Some people seem to think that EM is Interscopes bitch where the suits makes all the decisions and EM is just nodding and agreeing to everything they say..Maybe that was the case 10 years ago but EM has been around for a long ass time now and has earned Interscope millions of dollars selling millions of cds..EM is so respected now that i bet he can do whatever the fuck he wants without anyone breathing down his neck.

Eminem can do whatever he wants with his album, just like a lot of artists but he can't release his album whenever he wants.
Who do you think will distribute his album ? Universal Music Group's Interscope Records.
Why do you think Eminem can't release a 50 cent album under Shady Records ? because Interscope distribute the copies, not shady.
