The good and bad: movement on stage

Postby LMShady » Jun 9th, '13, 13:22

A lot of people criticize his movement on stage now compared to pre Encore performances and such but I think more recently he has definitely improved and I've noticed a few different things he does. A lot of it now is better than that drugged up 2005 New York performance.

This for example...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rrB85Us7Okg
Around 1:20, that thing he does with his feet looks pretty cool

I'm glad he stopped the 'duck walk' or at least cut down on it a bit because that just made it look like he'd shit himself. He's definitely loosened up a lot more since the shows he did when Relapse came out. He looked very stiff there and you could tell he wasn't used to the performance side whilst being sober, however I think he got away with it because it weirdly suited the Relapse theme.

Just thought I'd point this out anyways!
But what am I gonna do when the rage is gone and the lights go out in that trailer park?

His G-Shock performance was great. He looked really comfortable on that stage

He used to be better.
You guys can't say it's because he wasn't/isn't used to perform being sober, because Em said himself that during the second Anger Management Tour he was sober. So... I don't know, he just lost his touch, on the stage.
Watch the Square Dance performance here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yVITuSy1r6U (18.34)

He used to walk following the rhythm of the beat, find a place where to stand in the stage, rap moving himself to the beat, then after a bit move to another side of the stage and do the same thing. Then, most important thing, he used to look at the crowd while rapping, and he just doesn't do it anymore.
Now he looks at the crowd for a few seconds, then turn around and look at Mr. Porter.
He keeps walking from side to side of the stage with that strange walk (which is 'amplified' by the shorts he's dressing every time he performs) randomly moving his hands. He even turns his back to the crowd (he used to do it but now he does even more).
Stop jumping around man. Just find a place in the stage, look at the crowd and rap. And also stop doing those awkard kind-of-dance moves without even looking at the crowd, when the songs are ending. You can see what I mean here, at 1.16.00:

For me he still looks uncomfortable on stage
That's why I prefer the Relapse era performances. Maybe he was less dynamic, but he looked much more... cool than now while performing.

Well, not really. He's not rapping his shit alone in his house without anybody watching him.
He's performing in front of a huge crowd of fans FOR them.
So yeah, I bet a lot of people (including myself) give a fuck how he acts on stage.

He's just surprising the fans with every performance. I always admired how Proof was on the stage with Eminem, now, well, It's Mr.Porter. D9 had his moments. His actions and movement on the song 'Business'(Voodoo festival) was very much in synch with Eminem and the little thing that they did during these lines, "Look at all the bullshit that goes on in Gotham ..." was pretty cool. That's what Eminem trying to do. He's inculcating some actions that are distinctively awesome, like he lifts his T-Shirt during Stan, falling on his ass in 'My Name Is'. He's more attentive now.

This.

He used to be smooth when he performed. Especially around TES era.

I only complain about the duck-walk. The rest is ok with me.

You guys forget that back in the day he used to tour a lot. These days he only does a few shows. So, it's normal he was more smooth back them. As much you perform- as better you are. But he is still great.
