"We Made You" is awesome.

Postby EminemBase » Jun 28th, '13, 18:00

Just listening to some of 'Relapse' now and this is on...

This song is badass. Fart is the only shit bit.

But the style and rapping on here is awesome; it's like psycho spitfire carnival rap. It's like tricky but rhythmic as fuck, bouncy, smooth and totally fits Relapse, doesn't sound like 'the odd one out'.

Wouldn't go as far as calling it "awesome" but it's not bad. Not too bad.
"So one last time, I'm back, 'fore it fades into black and it's all over, behold the final chapter in the saga, trying to recapture that lightning trapped in a bottle twice, the magic that started it all...tragic portrait of an artist tortured....trapped in his own drawings..." - Bruce.

if it didn't rhyme so many syllables, I wouldn't like it b/c I don't really enjoy the way em sounds on it. but he does rhyme a ton of shit, and it makes the song pretty bad ass.

I still can't get use to the accent on this one and I don't like the hook.
Fuck top five, bitch, I'm top four
And that includes Biggie and Pac, whore
And I got an Evil Twin
So who the fuck do you think that third and that fourth spot's for?

Nah, because Eminem's still rhyming a shit-ton without sacrificing the jokes he's telling.

I don't like the song. One of the two off Relapse I think is anywhere near weak.

I don't think it's weak at all... it does its job and encapsulates everything about the style and serves as an introductory track in the sense it feels... louder and catchier...

As long as the music and rap style fits sonically, and the rapping is good, that's all that I'm usually concerned about; just, 'how does this feel with the rest of the tracks'...

Only ones which don't for me are the final three, up until that I find it his most consistent album. Why oh why EM couldn't you end it there you fucking yes man, god dam it.

Nothing too much against the accent in general but it does ruin this song. The video is funny though.

So much that he feels the need to discuss it in every Relapse conversation, among other things

Was it you, Menzo, or Geno that came up with the original idea of Relapse being a concept album? Anyways, if we go by that idea, those last three make perfect fucking sense, dude. Cept for Beautiful. That shit should've been replaced by CWYWF.

Yeah, with that album...

Encore doesn't bother me for example, as it wasn't like... ruined by one track or even a couple, it was split shitty and had shitty elements throughout, and some good songs... but even all of the shit ones felt like the same music, of the same batch and style...

But Relapse is just so unique and consistent up to that point... so it'd be like (for me) watching an amazing movie and then the last 10 minutes just being nonsense and which feel like none of the rest of the movie... I would be like "damn... so close"... most things are usually either good or bad or brilliant or shit, not too much is like nearly brilliant aka 80% brilliant then just an element of shit which ruins it; Em does that because he creates 80% art then 20% to labels and public...

Kind of like how the ending to The Sopranos is kind of shit, just doesn't seem big or good enough, and even though the prior rest of the entire 6 seasons ranged from great-amazing... you walk away with that last impression, it stains it; Beautiful-Underground is Em's Sopranos ending to me.

Should trust his first instinct to just make pure art. It's not a popularity contest.

Bro come on, surely you've read me say this a million times as I always repeat myself...

It's nothing to do with the song content for me.

It's the style, and only the style, and the music. The sound is what I'm talking about.

Something can fit thematically but if it's not the same music or it doesn't gel then it sounds out of place like the wrong cover for an album. I don't get how you can't hear the DRASTIC musical and stylistic difference in "Beautiful" to the rest of the album... CAB isn't that diff, sounds like a transition, but it's pretty shitty to be there... and "Underground" sounds nothing alike either.

If you look at Relapse 1-16 up until and including "Deja Vu"... every song sounds like one batch of music; same production, same writing and rap style; he varies within the style in terms of delivery and intensity but it's a style and the tracks feel like a family...

Then... a track with 2005-7 writing and rap style comes in, totally different writing/rhyme style, totally different vocal tone and totally different production AND attitude, it's like a fucking rock ballad amongst a track of bouncy sarcastic mania. Sounds totally bizarre to me.

I don't care what it's about, it just sounds stupid there.

And due to the fact it's so perfect up and including "Deja Vu" and then there's that drastic song... I seriously believe those final three tracks were tacked on / forced by the label. Makes perfect sense:

"Em we don't have a single other than "We Made You"... we need 2nd and 3rd singles... "

'Em's mind: "hmm, I have that one song I made from the old batch... that'd be commercial"...

"Yeah Em use that, and we'll put "Crack a Bottle" on there too as it's a #1... otherwise all we have is your goofy intro and an album about rape and eating babies and popping pills..."

"Okay... I don't want to end on that shitty CAB single though, I need to finish the album off with a relevant track ' so leme record this right quick, some kind of crazy psycho track ' and low and behold "Underground" is the only 'Relapse track' which has a different style.

Neither "Beautiful" nor "Crack a Bottle" were made for 'Relpase, hence the difference in sound, but "Underground" was, yet he's rapping different, harsher, more like 'Recovery', indicating it was recorded after that initial batch aka to go out on so he didn't end on a shitty irrelevant song.

I think tracks 1-6 (ending on "Deja Vu" - even dramatically fades out as if the last track, probably so that it could just fade out and then he comes with R2) was the real and full album he made and the next two tracks were compromises, forced on there to make it sell more, hence why they're both singles; and not made for the album, then "Underground" made by Em to try and round-it-off, hence why it has a different style, one like he later went toward with 'Recovery' aka it was last minute.

All pure speculation, but I think that's what happened.

Forget the content yo, it's the sound fam. Sounds stupid.

Huh?

When did I praise 'Encore'.?

Or if you're referring to 'Relapse', I've loved and praised that since day one and there's posts of mine here on this forum from 2009 of me praising it as soon as it dropped.

My opinion has never changed on 'Relapse', I don't go with the flow, I go with what I hear.
