New album won't leak

I would be surprised if any album going forward will leak, by any major artist.


I'm really surprised that any album ever leaks. Digital media becomes more popular year after year.

Jay Z album comes it in about 20 minutes. Nothing out there as of leaks.

He was smart. Digital release now, hard copy in a few days. Makes it harder to steal.

Em will probably follow that release pattern.

I honestly don't think leaks hurt sales as much as people think. People who would buy the album normally still buy the album, people who won't buy the album still won't.

I wouldn't buy an album if I wasn't getting a hard copy.

I agree. Before pirating, people would buy the album just to hear the single if they liked it, which add's to sale's. People who are a fan will buy the album, if someone pirates it and doesn't support the artist, he wasn't a fan to begin with, which really does not effect anything except for pirating becoming bigger and bigger.

That's why Canada made new law's around pirating filling all the loop hole's in, but just in movies so far, they have a few major cases to see if it work's first.

If the new law's are successful I think the amount of pirating will go down alot and artist's will become richer and we will see more sale's hitting a million again in there first week.

To OP: I don't thing will leak either. it's been announced over a year ago, I think it's been a year...but there has been Zero talk about it or leak's this close to the release date (August to October?). This one is on the super downlow, Id say people were paid to not speak of it.

Also I generally don't pay for music. Eminem is one of the three to four artists I usually buy music of. Jay-Z is rich enough already - so is Em lol, but I'd rather shove my money into Em's ass than into Jigga's.

If physical copies of the album are distributed, a leak is almost sure to happen. We'll see, but my guess is that CDs indeed will be released, and thus shipped to stores. Not sure what the latest figures say, but - for albums - CDs still account for somewhere around 50 % of the total sales. Em is HUGE internationally too, and that's a factor which increase the probability of a leak (mass distribution WW = more parties involved --> risk).

Eminem always releases his albums earlier in Europe. This time, he should do the opposite and release it a bit later. Maybe it would avoid a premature leak.

Isn't that because Europe's release date for movies and CDs is typically Monday? For the US (and Canada?), it's Tuesday.

It isn't just an Em album, it's also the device.

I know lol but wouldn't you rather spend 20 bucks on an EM album instead of 600 plus.

Hell yeah, I'm a broke ass nigga. Albums usually run for 9 bucks in Best Buy when they are first released.

But, there are plenty of priviliged kids out there that are going to buy the ipad regardless, throwing in Em's album is just another way to market it to them.

9 bucks? Fuck, in Sweden it'll cost you like $24! Don't buy them CDs anyways though. Vinyl is where it's at.
