I agree. I much prefer that to the more intense parts where he raises his voice. I wish the columbine line was delivered with the calmer voice.

Having said that - the fact that part is so short increases re-playability for me.

Apparently it's a reference to some obscure 07 track by some Chigaco group.

Clearly MMLP2 will have a lot of homaging, like the original MMLP, paying tribute to hip-hop.

The fact it was an homage/re-working of something makes it non-shit now.
