I think he'll maybe want to get something out as soon as possible because he's not getting any younger and who knows how much longer he wants to keep doing the touring and the promotional stuff, etc.
I think guys like him, and Nas, and Jay need to stay active as long as possible to show people that rappers can age like rockers do. That they can still put out music and be relevant for as long as they want.
I think for some reason, legacies are a big part of hip hop, more so than other genres, and that's part of what takes some guys so long to release stuff. They get in their own heads and are so obsessed with leaving a perfect body of work that they want to quit while they're ahead and not keep churning stuff out.
No artist that has been around a significant amount of time has a perfect discography. As a fan, I do root for Em to be recognized as one of the best, but I think he's already proven that. The people that still don't believe at this stage in the game will never believe. So he should loosen up and stick around for as long as possible.
A 50 year old Em is better to me than no Em. Who knows what kind of quality he'd be capable of, or what he'd sound like, but I feel like the game needs it.
