Associative Run of Puns on "So Much Better"...

Em does this quite a lot lately @ associative puns... sometimes not even blatant puns but just speak using a running 'theme' of words or phrases for a little period.

He does it a few times in this song but it was particularly smooth and brilliant here:

"That's what I call pitching a bitch
That's why I'm swinging at these chicks on sight
Long as I got a bat and two balls...
It's foul but my dick's on strike"

So that's 5 instances of word or phrase pun'age in that lil section there, without compromising the integrity of the sentences - as in, those sentences are natural, legible and work with or without the puns; the puns are simply incidental.

Thank god he spent that extra time writing because this step-up in quality vs. some of the truly abysmal writing of Recovery will really stand the test of time.

I'm not saying the puns are clever...

I'm saying the integration of them is smooth - he hasn't written his way in to high heaven to get there or sacrificed any natural element of the sentences.

All those sentences and that whole section works naturally as it is, pun or no puns.

So that's the improvement I'm talking about, which is ideal.

^ Exactly. Like the "my life is garbage and I'm about to take it out on you" line on Bad Guy, the pun isn't overly obvious and could easily be ignored as opposed to Recovery where the pun was often the entire point of the line.

^Which is why I got really annoyed hearing "Excuse the pun" before his bitch/broad statement pun.

All the puns in this song actually make sense with the music is what EmBase is saying. Whereas on Recovery they were replaced very randomly.
