I remember hearing 8 Mile the first time and being blown away. The fucking chorus is so motivational for me and always makes me want to take that next risk in life, that next bold step.
But fucking Lose Yourself. Come on. It's Lose Yourself!
That shit still gets play. It's not just considered one of the greatest hip hop songs of all time but one of the greatest songs period.
If 8 Mile makes me think I can make that next bold move in life, Lose Yourself makes me think I have the power to walk on hot coals, naked in sub zero temperatures while getting shot at.
Th reason I give the edge to Lose Yourself is 8 Mile is too specific to the film. He raps about beating the Free World. He raps about his little sister. He raps about having to leave his mom's house.
Lose Yourself is much broader for the most part, save for the "and there's no movie there's no Mekhi Phifer."
I can just relate to it more.
