Let us take this moment to remember...

Postby Mr Change » Dec 26th, '13, 20:47

To remember how we felt when we popped in MMLP2 for the first time and started bumping Bad Guy, and then in the twilight of the song, this happened...

"It's just me, you and the music now, Slim, I hope you hear it
We're in a car right now, wait, here comes my favorite lyric
"I'm the bad guy who makes fun of people that die"
And hey, here's a sequel to my Mathers LP just to try to get people to buy
How's this for publicity stunt, this should be fun
Last album now, cause after this you'll be officially done
Eminem killed by M and M, Matthew Mitchell
Bitch, I even have your initials"

The voice, the parallels, the emotion, the lyrics. I could try and explain in a paragraph what this part of the song means to me and what it means to Eminem's career, but I'm utterly at a loss of words when studying this part of the song, or whenever it comes up while I'm randomly playing through some of Em's music.

This small section is/was/will be one of the greatest, maybe underrated, couple of lines of his entire career.

So let's just share what we think, what we thought, and what we feel from this part of the song, the song in general, and everything that followed.

Haters started to appreciate my art
And it just breaks my heart to look at all the pain I caused
But what am I gonna do when the rage is gone?
And the lights go out in that trailer park?"

I had taken a 200mg mdma capsule and smoked a small bowl in preparation of the album and I had to stop to take a breather after this first track, I downloaded and pressed play right after the leak (not expecting much, given his recent work) and after the track ended I was like "fuck dude do I really want to listen to the rest of this?". I had to let it process for a good hour or so before getting back to the rest. ..was fuckin sweating/shaking and shit :shakehead:

Classic moment :flutter:
I remember thinking on the first two verses that the song was about Em being pissed at the rap game and wanting to kill it somehow
Than that part you quoted hit and everything made sense :flutter:
I remember that I rapped "who makes fun of people that die" after I heard "I'm the bad guy" on that very first time too :flutter: I think I shred a tear on that momment :worship:

That was the tightest shit ever. It took me maybe 4 or 5 listens and some tweets to realize it was from Matthew's perspective. And when you look at the song as a whole, it's literally a metaphor for all the shit that's coming back to haunt him from his past, much like the rest of the CD. Goddamn I love this album.
"But most importantly, hip hop isn’t dead no more you see
Cause Kendrick took the bar and raised it up higher for MCs
Unfortunately the little nigga's like 4 ft 3, the guys a fuckin' midget
His high is still really short to me" -Hopsin
(I love Kendrick, but this shit was too funny)

I was digging the album vibe straight from the beginning of Bad Guy and I was like this is some cool shit. The 3rd verse and the 4th verse especially had me dying. I was like holy crap! Eminem is GOAT! No other rapper can touch him. That's how I felt at the first listen of Bad Guy and the whole album for that matter.
