LL Cool J - Year of the hip hop

While we listen to tunes made by ignorant fools...

I just came across this previously unreleased track by LL Cool J which should be available for pre-order at the end of next month. Apparently it is a left over from his '14 shots to the drome' album that hit the stores back in 93 but has only now surfaced for us to hear.

Needless to say he completely killed this one!

Love it. This is that classic '93 sound, delivery and all that. Reminds me of Big L's Unexpected Flava.

Damn, hip-hop has changed so much over the years. I do miss this old-school sound.

That is what I miss the most about the sound of the 90's; that analogue sound. It's not like I'm completely against the digital age cus it has given producers some musical opportunities that didn't have before. It is just that it feels more correct and natural with that old school sound. Imagine 93 til infinity with digital mixing?

Lyrically this is from a time when it was about proving yourself. It hasn't been about skills for more than a decade, sadly.

I have yet to listen to '14 shots to the drome' but if this track didn't make the final cut, it must be a straight classic!

The beat reminds me of Big Daddy Kane's "Aint No Half Steppin" a little.

Wow, such a throwback track! Crazy flow on this one!

I'm so happy you posted this. The fact that this track sounds fresh 17 years after it was made is both a testament to how good the track is and how bad the new shit (aside from a few exceptions of course) is.

Thanks bro, mad props for this! :worship:

No problem, Mr. Croatia ;)

Actually kind of crazy that something that has been in his trash can for almost two decades is as good as the best new tracks we've heard this year. His flow at the end of the song is just mind blowingly good.
