While I feel that Jay doesn't deserve the number one spot, he definitely deserves to be higher than 6...Watch The Throne, anyone? Have they forgotten that last year was a pretty big year for Jay-Z? Smfh. Inb4 Drake and Wayne are number 1 and 2. :facepalm

Man, if Jay-Z is #6, I think Eminem will be on the Top 5 :facepalm

The Top 5 will be revealed on sunday.

I do think Em should be on this list, but Jay deserves to be a little higher...he did have a bigger year. I think Em will be in the top 5 as well. Not that I'm really complaining about that because he had a decent year too, but not as big as Jay's. I'll say Em is the number one MC when he drops another album most likely but BME and a great Cypher alone isn't enough I feel.

Yeah, man, that's what I wanted to say. Jay-Z should be at least in the Top 5. Now, if Em is going to be between the 5 best, considering the BME EP and the Cypher, Royce would deserve to be at least in the Top 10, don't you agree?? Saying the truth, this list sucks. :coffee:

I think if anything BME proved just how 'cold' Royce is. Don't forget, Royce released Success Is Certian last year and it floooooooopped! The only 'hot' (NOT talented, but 'hot') MC on H:TS was Eminem.

He wasn't.

Royce out-rapped Em in spots, they had different intent at different moments though which is why it seems back and forth / like they occasionally 'top' each other.

As at a moment where Em may be going for humour, Royce may be going for more rhymes and visa versa, so it always will look uneven or close.

But Em is still more witty, his lyrics are more interesting (as is his phrasing and writing), his flows and delivery were better and more exciting and he still has more of a personality on the mic.

Royce himself even said that a lot of flows on the EP or in recent times he's experimented with have come from Em, as in, him being influenced by or emulating Em. And the same is obvious with his attempts at humour, a lot of which just fall completely flat on the EP.

Aight, that was my opinion, and that's your opinion. Don't matter what I say, what you think won't change and it's the same for me.

But yes, Royce was influenced by Em, by Slaughterhouse. In his words:
"Being around other talented people that push you, inspire you to a level that you just want to keep up. [...] So, when I get around them, I know I’m around emcees of a certain caliber that’s trying to tear your fucking absolute head off every time they step in the booth, so you have to rhyme on a certain level in order to just keep up. I think that’s inspiration in itself, so it’s pretty much the same when I’m in there with Slaughterhouse and when I’m in there with Em."

EVERY artist has their inspirations. And that's what make them getting better and better. That's what happened to Royce. He dealt very well with the pressure of making a duo with one of the best of all-time. IMO he was as good as Eminem on H:TS.

I think he was as good at some technicalities, technically speaking, as an MC.

But, he's still not naturally witty, it often sounds forced or falls flat. And I mean that from a pure thought of comedy perspective, 'being an MC' aside. Just, his thoughts in general.

Where as, Em has always had a natural charisma and wit. And yes I know of late that's transpired into nothing much more than puns but, those aside... his character, his tone... just, there's whole layers of complexity that go beyond what Royce does.

Royce is improving and over recent years has added layers, but I don't think he's as good still.
