Odd Future

Postby Atone » Jul 6th, '12, 14:23

i didn't find a strong standing Odd Future thread so i'll post here

i gotta say, i slept on these dudes and it took me along ass time, like, i tried many times but never axctually sat down and paid attention to their music, until the past few days.

i have now become an Odd Future fan, Earl is my favorite out of all of them, Tyler is dope, their beats are all really nice.

Tylers albums, start to finish, i like how he told a story, it was pretty awesome.

Earl is nice.

I bought Goblin and was super excited for it however I found it to be a huge let down.

I really like their beats too... They actually have some of the exact same style and sounds of a producer named SayJak (who is also a hella dope producer)

I think with OF the potential is there. They are all young and will probably be very good when they both mature and hit their peak stage

-Frank is one of the best modern artists
-Tyler is awesome, love his unique approach to music
-MellowHype makes dope music that gets you hyped
-The Internet is OK, have some good songs but they're pretty boring
-Earl is the most overrated rapper alive, if he never made another song I'd be fine. There's a kid Jack Mushroom (who also sucks) who sounds exactly like Earl, his style is so lame. It's a shitty Eminem rip off.
Domo and Mike G, I don't listen to, so IDK

Earl is almost universally regarded as an amazing lyricist. Wayne (and pretty much every major artist) can be highly overrated by his Stans, but the general consensus is he sucks dick now. Just look whenever Wayne drops a song on HHDX, it get's awful ratings.

Link me to one meaningful Earl verse that isn't just random bullshit babble. He writes bars, not songs.

Lol on what planet? I honestly haven't seen much Earl praise beside OFWGKTA fans who would dickride him regardless of his ability. Dude is alright, I'm a fan, but he's barely above average.

Aside from Earl, I'm a Tyler fan and never really got into the other acts though I'm definitely going to be checking out Frank Ocean sooner than later.

Hmm IDK, everyone I've ever talked to about him thinks he's amazing.

Listen to Nostalgia, Ultra NOW, too good. Listen to it before Channel Orange drops the 17th.
Frank is one of the best artists alive, any genre.

And MellowHype's album is really enjoyable, they have great chill songs like this:

I think Earl is the best in the group personally. His flow and rhymes are genius.

Really?

The more I hear of Earl, the less I like him.

My personal favourite OF members.
1. Tyler (because of production, if it was just rapping Earl would have been #1)
2. Earl
3. Frank Ocean
4. Hodgy
5. Left Brain
6. Mike G
7. The Internet
8. Jet Age of Tomorrow
9. That Jack Mushroom kid. (Is he new or something?)

Tyler, The Creator is the most chill person in the group (Better at Producing then Rapping), Earl Sweatshirt is the best rapper in the group, Frank Ocean is pretty cool if you ask me, Mike G I don't really like because I heard that he steals lines from other rappers, I like Mellowhype and even know Jasper isn't a rapper in the group I think hes funny as hell!
