Lello wrote:yeah man, but I have a feeling he will, there are some rappers who can't improve and we say stuff like, that's all he can give, but Jay Rock proved from his verse on Black Lip Bastard Remix that he can spit! and be dope at it, so I think we should expect his upcoming release to be a step forward, I think he can do it

I do too, this post is really what I've been thinking. Also, Schoolboy Q, Ab-Soul, and Jay Rock have all confirmed working on their next albums. And we all know about Kendrick. Anyway, I just wish Schoolboy Q did his best on Black Lip Bastard, he is usually above and beyond with Kendrick and Ab-Soul. He did great on SOPA, maybe he wasn't feeling it. Anyway, here's what Q said about his next album and he has me so fucking pumped:
""It gotta be different," emphasized ScHoolboy, who has also been going by the nickname Puff Daddy as of late. "It's like Habits & Contradictions was different from Setbacks. Setbacks had a lot more content in it, a lot more meaningful topics. Habits & Contradictions was more of a funner project. Not so serious.
"The next project is just gonna be the both of them put together," he continued. "It has to be them two combined but with a new sound. You got to make somebody cry every album, at east one song. That's what we go by at TDE. If you ain't making nobody cry at least one song, go back and revitalize the shit."

He also said in another interview that he's been listening to good kid, m.A.A.d city being recorded and it has made him completely start over on his album twice.

Lello wrote:I wish he went harder too, but it's no big deal, just one off track, and it's not like he was horrible, just nothing special.

And I did not see these before, now I'm hyped as fuck about Q's next project as well, but tbh I have yet to check Setbacks, but ofc I will soon

At that last sentence, Kendrick would make anyone wanna start off his album from again :worship:

Setbacks, imo isn't as good as Habits & Contradictions sonically or lyrically. However, it's deeper and describes Q's life to an extent. This was his first album since he started rapping in 2008. He is the most improved member of Black Hippy, like his improvement and development of his style was so rapid that Kendrick and Ab-Soul have said they think he's the best rapper in Black Hippy at times (Humble as fuck group, yet still.). He has only been rapping a little over three years, and I think it's amazing at how much better he's gotten.

And here's what Q said about the Black Hippy album:

Despite numerous labels releasing group albums this summer, Los Angeles rapper ScHoolboy Q revealed that Black Hippy won’t be releasing their group album until they feel it’s a classic project. During an interview with Karen Civil and KarmaLoop TV he explained that the group is more concerned with releasing an album that will “stick.”

“When it’s ready to be a classic,” said ScHoolboy Q when asked about a release date for the Black Happy album. “[We’re] not gonna just do it cause everyone else is doing it and everybody just want us to drop a project. We want it to be classic…We want our shit to stick, like classic.”

ScHoolboy Q also spoke briefly on his solo album which he’s already a couple of tracks into.

“[I’m] about five records in on my album. I think I got a couple singles ready. You never know until it’s that time you know what I’m saying, but I got something,” ScHoolboy Q explained.

Later in the interview Black Hippy’s Ab-Soul gave his thoughts on the group’s first big feature in XXL magazine. While Ab-Soul explained that he wasn’t overwhelmed by the opportunity he did reveal that he was honored to be a part of it.

“It’s not like overwhelming, if you will. But we grew up watching XXL too. Who didn’t? You know what I’m saying? It’s definitely an honor,” said Ab-Soul.

To be honest, I'm anticipating every Balck Hippy related project. To bad we only got a name for one of them. I'm expecting classic though because they are more than capable. Anyway, I think they are releasing Jay Rocks project next followed with Kendick x J Cole, good kid, m.A.A.d city, schoolboy q's project, ab-soul's, and then Black Hippy together.

yeah I anticipate their solos a lot too! even Jay Rock, Black Hippy running this shit!

so far this year, Control System is my Rap AOTY, good kid in a m.a.a.d city and Hop Madness are major contenders to change that

Fuck yeah, this 100%.

Kendrick Lamar is my favorite. Ab Soul Second. I haven't really heard Schoolboy Q or Jay Rock, but Kendrick beats Ab Soul by quite a mile.

I haven't gotten in to any of them individually properly yet, or them as a group. I can definitely see what they're trying to be / do though, and I like it.

In terms of what I've heard so far, I'd say Kendrick is the most talented and lyrical.

I saw ScHoolboy Q perform at the Shady thing though and he was funky as fuck.

Schoolboy Q has a lot of attitude. I love listening to Raymond 1969 and Tookie Knows (even of it's just an interlude without many words, it's just very enjoyable sonically and compliments the album like it was suppost too).
