Illmatic vs. It Was Written

Alright, this is a simple thread. I'm putting, basically, Nas's two best albums against each other. Illmatic will probably win because it is hailed as the best album ever in hip-hop by many, but hear me out. It Was Written, in my opinion, was better than Illmatic. Illmatic was that raw, hungry Nas stepping into the rap game with a message that was innovative for its time, but on It Was Written he improved his story telling capabilities and got better production (not that Illmatic didn't have amazing production, that shit was AMAZING for its time). It Was Written also broke Nas into the mainstream and cemented his status as a rap legend with his hit single, "If I Ruled the World (Image That)." Yes, It Was Written was more of a rehash of Illmatic and Nas didn't show much progression, but I feel he built on the foundations of Illmatic and improved his sound. Feel free to vote, and fuck your opinions on my mine. So, if you come in here just to bash it without any good points and dumb ass insults to me personally, I'll save my self the time and tell you this now - fuck you cunt(s).

I feel like Illmatic is slightly overrated. Plus, I listen to more songs from It Was Written, so I'll choose that.

It Was Written was the first Nas album I listened to and for me it still has a couple of classic songs on it. The Message was always one of my personal favourites. But Illmatic is definitely the better album.
