ScHoolboy Q, Ab-Soul & Jay Rock Confirm no BH album

Postby flyingmonkey10 » Sep 6th, '12, 21:08

The Black Hippy's confirm Ab-Soul's previous statement that a Black Hippy album will "never, ever" be released.

For those who may have had a little hope when it comes to a possible Black Hippy album being released, ScHoolboy Q, Ab-Soul, and Jay Rock likely dashed those hopes during their interview with Page31.com. While being interviewed each of the three rappers was asked if a joint Black Hippy album will ever surface and all three responded with a swift no.

According to ScHoolboy Q, at this time in their careers a Black Hippy album won’t work because of the current emphasis on individual projects.

“It’s not,” said ScHoolboy Q when asked if a Black Hippy album will be released. “Like why [do] nigga’s want a Black Hippy album? It’s so corny. Why you want the hardest nigga’s to do an album? Why we can’t just do our own shit? Why ya’ll want all of us to do it? It’ll never come out right. When the hardest nigga’s always get together it never come out right. That’s how I feel. We the hardest nigga’s, but I just don’t feel it’ll come out right. At least right now.”

“It won’t. I don’t know man…I don’t think it’ll ever be a Black Hippy album,” Jay Rock added.

ScHoolboy Q did add a small glimmer of hope when he revealed that while a Black Hippy album won’t happen now, they may be able to work something out in the future.

“I think maybe later on when we a little older, right now we cool. We too stuck onto our own shit,” said Q in a video posted on HipHop-n-More.

But Jay Rock said it was a joke like two weeks ago...Whatever, I'm sure they'll do one and this is just a marketing tactic.

@Rev, I understand that they're doing that. I know well that they don't want to be remembered as "Black Hippy, you know Kendick Lamar's group." They obviously want to form solid solo careers and I believe they are taking a step in the right direction. Punch (TDE's president) is a business guru just like Dr. Dre and Jay-Z, I trust in his decisions and I think it's simply a marketing ploy.

@Geno, but Black Hippy isn't broken up, D12 is. Sooo, what's your point? If your suggesting it's marketing I think you better look again at what label they're on, they aren't know for marketing (D12 - Shady Records). However, Aftermath an TDE are very good at the business side of their business as well as signing talented acts and putting out qualitity albums.

Then what the fuck's the point in even being in the group if they're not even gonna be putting anything out? Except for a few songs every now and then, but what's the point?

Aftermath is good at business? REALLY? They had like 10 Kendrick Lamars on their label, and not ONE of them could drop an album. They got fucked over.

They'll come out with one within the next two years, I'll bet on it. And yeah, Aftermath is good at business, they produced Eminem, 50 Cent, Game, and now are raising up Kendrick Lamar. They were influential in launching G-Unit and Shady Records alike, and have their own headphone line that is extremely successful. They are definitely good at business.

I'll bet you they are done making albums and of that was a marketing ploy it didn't accomplish much.

Bizarre's doing well right now. Dropping more material than Black Hippy. :shifty:

Quality over quantitity my brother. Anyway, I'm certain they'll drop one eventually.

BH has always said they wanted to solidify their solo careers before they did a group project. Kendrick has, Jay Rock almost had it, but they're right, they should wait. Hip-hop groups usually end up splitting at some stage, and with this strategy, that hopefully won't happen.
