I was listening to Life is Good and just today I noted something: a lot of the songs do not have a chorus at all. This is kinda eye opening tbmfh. I mean, I like good hooks as much as anyone else, but stuff like Loco-Motive, A Queen's Story, The Black Bond, etc. prove that a chorus isn't always required. In fact, I can't even imagine these songs having one right now!
Nas made a great decision at avoiding corny hooks with random bitches for the vocals, and he just opted to go for magma-hot, pure fiyah verses. This is great because it keeps the momentum of the song always up since the beginning, and it doesn't drag the album down. It also helps it by giving it a more "pure" rap feeling, instead of the pop hybrids that are so common nowadays.
More rappers should do this. Thoughts?
