Whats the difference between R&B and Pop?

In today's mainstream, this is a valid question to pose. It isn't clear, really. Most artists today, who are considered to be R&B, tend to record songs with elements of both POP and R&B. That is generally how you maximize your probability of success @ radio stations, and indirectly record sales & royalties. And remember, R&B = Rhythm & Blues. Not sure how well that definition matches most of today’s so called R&B singers.
