Life is Good is better than both. I'd like to see a person here that, honestly, still believes Illmatic is his best album and still bumps it frequently even nowadays. Great album and deserves the respect it gets, but it gets kinda boring after a while.

As for the thread, I think the best songs from IWW > Illmatic. IWW has some filler songs though.

And that includes Biggie and Pac, whore
And I got an Evil Twin
So who the fuck do you think that third and that fourth spot's for?

I don't listen to much Nas but Illmatic is the only album I listen to but never really all the way through, I just Le the songs play when my songs are on shuffle.

By the way, the album had a huge impact on the hip hop culture and 20 years later, it's still one of the most praised albums.
Illmatic is more of a classic than it was written, the album used to set a new standard and it really captured a moment in time.
The album could have been a 7/10 album, it would still be THE classic because of its impact.

Nobody in my country talks about illmatic and really, it's one of my favorite albums of all time and it has nothing to do with the hype... I really think that this album is flawless :sweating:
It Was Written is dope too but I think that Nas will never be able to top these 2 albums ! Stillmatic was good but imo, this album and the rest of his discography aren't in the same league as illmatic & IWW.

I wanted an album so rugged nobody could touch it.
Spent a million a track and went over my budget.
Now how in the fuck am I supposed to get out of debt?
I can't rap anymore, I just murdered the alphabet.

Having an impact doesnt make album good. Just like when people praise kool g, big daddy kane or rakim to be the greates coz they had impact.
Being good is what makes things good nothing else.
Not saying illmatic isnt coz it is.

I didn't say that, I love the album because I enhoy listening to it and because I think it's a master piece.

A 10/10 album doesn't mean classic.
imo, illmatic is a solid 9.5 10/10 but it's a classic because of its impact & influence.
