But yeah, you can see when Eminem is being ironic or not

So? How does that dismiss him? If he writes lyrics about raping women, he's essentially in the same boat as Ross here, no matter what the meaning behind the lyric is.

Ross is using the date-raping women tactic as a metaphor to describe how sneakily he'll attack you; it's comparing how quick and fast a person must be to slip a drug into a woman's drink.

"This lyric is obviously promoting rape," says journalist and hip-hop activist Rosa Clemente in a YouTube response to the song. "Not just date rape, but rape and rape culture and violence against women."

Thats a hilarious interpretation.

It's pretty valid tbh.

What's your take on why it's hilarious?

It's all about intent. If you can't see the difference in the intent of irony/satire/sarcasm/shock value and when it's not for the that purpose then that might be the problem.

There's a difference between a rapper like Eazy-E bragging about girls just being hoes and someone like Bizarre saying he rapes and kills his girlfriend..... or his brother.

It's a pretty misogynist song.

I'm first to say I'm pretty biased when it comes to Eminem. And I'm certainly a lot more aware about sexism than I was when I heavily listened to Eminem - just due to being more mature.

Also, did you check out the EP I linked you?

I did actually, I liked Cake a lot. "..Fuck me love you love me, she said she said, fuck me like you love me.." that was actually really good. I'll probably buy it just so I don't have to keep going back to the link. There were a few really good ones, and other songs were average, i only listened to the whole thing once but 2 Die 4 or whatever it was called (the other song you recommended, I think that's its name) was also a good one. About fucking another girl and getting burned, it was good. Cake was my favorite though, I really like it.

I should give the whole thing another listen through though at some point, and I will, I just don't know when :y:

In that line i dont think he is promoting all violence against women, thats all. Not purposefully anyway.. it just seems a bit too much to suddenly go from that line in a song to promoting violence against women, in that way you could say that millions of songs do. The line is just someone with a double figure iq trying to make money from rhyming tbh, i doubt he thinks that much into what he says. I suppose yes people can interpret the lyrics that way, but i dont think the he added it into the song in the hope of people doing it, more just because he thought of it and thought that it rhymes... Which happens when you use the same line twice funnily enough.

edit: I would say Guilty Conscience is worse than this tbh, that song itself isnt to be taken seriously but people saying things about that song and video i can understand.

It's music. As long as he doesn't go around raping girls in real life, then I don't see the big deal
