There are even lesser known rappers that I haven't mentioned for the sake of the argument.

I only agree with Lupe and Nas. Kid Cudi blew up in 2009 so I agree with that choice as well.

 @ Jay being the 'best alive' in 09, pa-lease. Relapse alone invalidates that claim.

Also, Em was the best alive in 99, 2000, 2001 (seriously, Jay? he got fucking renagaded and Em was in his MMLP-zone... not even close.), 2 AND 3.

Let's not pretend 50 Cent comes remotely close to his universe just because he was perhaps the BIGGEST in 2003, but in fact Em was still bigger anyway. But biggest isn't best.

Imagine if they worked on an album together. Kanye supplying the beats with a similar feel to his ones from the mid 00's, and Shad just displaying top notch lyricism and intellect over them.

Would probably be a similar outcome to the Common's "Be". A classic album.

The title says "Best" so this whole article is fucked if Lil Wayne or Drake are considered the best multiple times

I agree but what is the definition of "hottest" and "best" ?

I don't know if it's a list about the hottest rappers or the best rappers but again, a lot of people think that a good rapper should be able to move a crowd.
Yep, You can find rappers more skilled than Lil Wayne but they weren't able to move anybody. Lil Wayne was respected by his pairs for his talent and he was able to move the crowds.
He really deserved to be that hottest and best rapper in 2008 IMO but I won't be mad if you don't agree with me :y:

As for Eminem and Kanye, I think that Eminem was the hottest but not the best. (if the list is based on albums, songs etc)
Eminem was the biggest seller, that's a fact, I'll say that he had a commercial impact but Kanye was #1 on almost every single end year list. (all genre)
MBDTF was the most acclaimed album and critics used to compare the "great" albums released in 2011 & 2012 to kanye's album.
In 2019, MBDTF will be mentioned in the "best albums of the decade" lists and I really think that Kanye West had a huge impact on the musical industry with his last solo album. He established himself as one of the best producers and his album set a new standard.

I don't know how it works but if they judge the artists on their albums, then it's fair to call Kanye "the best rapper of 2010"

Yeah I think so.

2003 was 50's biggest year... and he was huge... but Em was still releasing TES singles and was still the biggest rapper in the world. 50 Cent may have been a little bigger in the US that year but Eminem is a worldwide artist and was always bigger, 50 never reached the level Em did, which is basically like a Lenon status, where every country on Earth revered him for his artistry at one point.

That makes sense. At the time (though I was pretty young), 50 felt bigger/more relevant in the US but it never was for his artistry or anything.

Pac, Rakim and Nas win 1, while Drake wins two years? What a stupid list. And even if it were true...yeah, this music genre got fuckin ridiculous.
