Good for you, buying it :y: I'm going to order it on Saturday, for now I've just got them all ripped from the site he officially streamed it from on my iTunes.

My general thoughts is it's basically awesome. I was worried it would be utter shit in comparison to The Balancing Act, but this new direction is very interesting. The production is just so cohesive throughout the album, and it works really well. And shit...Songs like The Beast, Palmreader, and Melancholia...Goddamn. I don't know how to rate it against TBA, I'll have to let it sink into me for the next while.

Exit Theme and Kill the King are the standout tracks.

So I've listened through the album twice. The first time with a little less attention, and the second time with more attention to the songs. The only song I repeated few times after the first listen was 'Seven Devils'.

After the second listen, here is my opinion so far:

Th album is fucking good. Right now I really like it. The beats are excellent, and his lyrics and rhymes are really nice. His voice has never bothered me, but a couple places here and there in this album I didn't like his voice so much. It was where he suddenly changed the delivery, or made his voice sound lighter... I think it sounded a little bad, BUT didn't make me a enjoy the songs any less.

I can't point out what songs I like right now, because I am not sure what song is what song. I don't remember the names or lyrics, but what I do know is that pretty much all of them were dope. I still like 'Seven Devils' the most. I love the hook and the guitar that's playing for a while after the second verse or something.

Btw, what I used to dig in 'The Balancing Act' was when he suddenly "spazzed out" with the rhyming and the flow, like he does in 'Searching For Something Beautiful':

"I try to get a piece of peace and sit and listen infinitely
Holding onto benefits, and isn't it so innocent? We
Try to find another time and underline the cynical
Its pitiful we run and hide and under-mind the innermost
When intervals of miserable will find a figure four
And force the physical and inner soul to find a bitter form
And form another time and place where you can go and be so suitable
When all I wanna do is go and search for something beautiful, in me"

I am glad he did this kinda thing in some of the songs in the new album. I really like it.

I've been listening to it so much, I hate that I don't want to stop lol. It'll be less exciting too soon. I just ordered it too, can't wait until it arrives. Found a 320 rip, can't wait to hear it.

I agree with you SajN, and I know exactly what you're talking about at the end of your post there. It sounds great.

@ Solace - I know exactly what you mean. I spun the album for like the 10th time yesterday and that was the first time I didn't pick up anything new from the lyrics. I'm sure there are tons of hidden references in there that I'm never gonna get.

The most impressive thing about the album is it's cohesiveness and how there simply isn't a skippable track. It blew away any fears I had that it would live in The Balancing Act's shadow, and I already think it's by far and away his best album.

For me, the best lyrics on the album are from 'Song for the end of the world' - this sequence was mindblowing:

I'd give concern but I'm a disconcerted immature kid
Insecure when I am quickly searching for a bridge to burn it
If I twist and turn until the blisters hurt it isn't worth it
If it's served with sense of urgency to see me binge and purge it
I've lived and learned and learned to live to misinterpret nervous twitches
Pistons turning hurt to bliss it's picture perfect
And since I've learned a circus trick of inadvertent perfect-pitch
To skim a surface worse than this I'm in to get deserted

This is the best album I've heard since Cunninlynguists-Oneirology in 2011. Fantastic album and he really did pour his heart into it. I got my copy of it in the mail yesterday. Just got TBA on vinyl in the mail as well off of his website. Honestly I dont see how anyone could just download something like this for free unless you plan on buying it really the man poured his whole heart into it the least people could do is pay their 10$ for it if their truly fans. Russian Roulette, Kill the King, and Micheal are the standout tracks to me but every track on here is just perfect to be completely honest. OH and yes.. the album artwork is godly lmao.

Yeah, I'm just waiting on my CD in the mail. I should have bought TBA when there were still CD copies of it too...

Is he serious with that first song? 'Petrichor' I found that word like six months ago and had it down to use as a song title. God damnit. For anyone who doesn't know, its definition is "The smell left after a rain fall" or something like that.

Anyway... How bad was the album?
