No 2Pac?
:shakehead:
"This dude doing this interview wants me to spin a few,
Lyrics while I tie my tennis shoes in the nude
A romantic interlude in a livin’ room,
In an inner tube with a dude with a bit of lube
Fuck that I’m sniffin’ glue, sippin' gin & juice,
And a little bit of paint thinner with my dinner too,
You better pay me for my bars like your rent is due,
Now hurry up and finish dude before I finish you."

Hiphopdane wrote:Beat for beat the album isn't that great but the way The Chronic is composed makes it a true masterpiece not only within hip hop but music in general. It has never been copied and apart from Only built 4 cuban linx I have yet to see anything close from another producer.

A shame he seems to have vanished totally from the music scene cus I would love another fully produced Dr. Dre album with a great rapper on the mic. Hopefully he will do that with Kendrick Lamar although I was more than pleased with the music on Section 80... Relapse proved he is still on the absolute illest beat makers and no one can fuck with his mixing. I have never understood why people hold his drums in such high esteem though.

"The Chronic is still the hip-hop equivalent of Stevie Wonder's Songs in the Key of Life. It's the benchmark you measure your album against if you're serious." - Kanye West

I agree with most of this post :y:

But beat for beat, I genuinely don't think many albums come close to The Chronic, Lil Ghetto Boy alone is one of the best produced songs in music

As for Dre's drums, he was way ahead of his time, dropping patterns like this in the '80's; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=irn9FYJP2fY
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nzjGOqTUDYM
Pretty much every producer after Dre was influenced by him, and the producers of that time where forced to step their game up
Same sword they knight you they gon' good night you with
Sh.., Thats' only half if they like you
That ain't even the half what they might do
Don't believe me, ask Michael
See Martin, see Malcolm
You see Biggie, see Pac, see success and its outcome
See Jesus, see Judas; see Caesar, see Brutus
See success is like suicide
Suicide, it's a suicide
If you succeed, prepare to be crucified

But 50 was better with his lyrics & delivery & punchlines before Dre got involved (I don't blame Dre at all, but it's true)

Yes, 50 pretty much gained a following from the mixtapes he was dropping.

& I want to make it clear, I'm not just trolling on Dre. I fully admit he had an huge effect on Hip Hop. Just some of the people you named had careers before Dre

I say we go back in time and prevent Birdman from finding Lil Wayne. Then he wouldn't be so popular.

It's hard to tell, but websites that list good albums will be missing a few iconic releases.
