They've already said that they can rap, and everyone knows they can rap, so it's not gonna be an album full of bars. It'll still be lyrical, but bigger.

I don't mind the evolution. Royce deserves this tbh.

I don't think any fan of a real artist minds evolution.

But slapping watered down poppy / quirky hooks and features on tracks and using more mainstream beats, is not evolution. It's actually going backwards. It's devolution. It's worse, it's smaller.

Being 'bigger' which in this context, just = broader, actually = smaller.

Evolving as an artist should mean evolving artistically. Not just broadening what you to do some degree to appeal to more people, to sell more records :confusion:

That is literally what pop stars do.

They should want to change history, create something nobody has ever heard before, blow your mind. It's art, there are no rules. It doesn't have to be just 'lyrical', the potential is infinite. Sigh, why is everybody so limited / small-minded now. I hope one day we have great artists again.

I don't really like to say it, but Shady 2.0 will be a huge fail. Yelawolf will never get the mainstream appeal Paul (I say Paul because I get the impression he was the one who was really turning the screws in Em signing Yela) hoped he would get. I remember him being asked in an interview who the next rapper to blow up would be and he answered "Yelawolf" unequivocally. Soon after he was signed to Shady. That hasn't happened, of course. Slaughterhouse will probably get some commercial success with My Life and perhaps one of two other singles, but in doing so I imagine they'll lose a lot of their core fanbase - if the album is indeed a lot more "poppy" sounding.
