There's just somethin about his face, his cheesy smile, the fact that he is a white guy with a bit of a tan throwing the word "nigga" around, the fact that music isn't his true passion. Whenever I look at or listen to him my bullshit meter goes off, his monotone, boring voice, his horrible "pause" flow, his "you got it girrrrrrlll ughhhhhh" shit. I don't think he is a good lyricist, either. There is literally nothing that I like about him. I don't hate the guy, but he is definitely one of my least-favourite artists right now.

Ya, use 2 bad lines from the song with Eminem...

Drake is great. The people who hate probably can't relate to his lyrics, aka girls, relationships, parties, and living life.

And people say he's soft? He could honestly probably beat the shit out of most people here. Dude is swole/

He's one of the worst to ever do it, to get the kind of praise he gets.

DMX is the only rapper I've seen honestly analyze him / new guys. Seems like other rappers just don't wanna look like 'haters' so they blindly praise him. But, he's corny and generic as fuck.

Or maybe they do just like him, maybe people are being honest, in which case... I just disagree.

That isn't from his album and Em has worse lines

And Young Money does have a bad influence on Drake sometimes, songs like The Motto are bad, he's not perfect. But when he does music his style, with 40 and Weeknd, it's sick.

Can you really not relate to his songs at all? If not, sucks for you. To me and my friends, it applies. We're young, working hard, aiming for success, living the city lifestyle.

And DMX is garbage now, use to be one of my favorites.

^ It's not about just 'relating' though.

I find that the corniest and most simplistic validation of music and art that I always hear. Like with Em, a lot of people's favourite songs of his are just so, because they can 'relate'.

It's easy to write things most people can relate to, it's obvious.

If Drake says "I'm depressed" and I listen to that, I don't go "Wow, I'm depressed as well... and he is, and he just said that, I can relate... this is genius!", it's too easy.

He's garbage to me because of his flow and style. Musically, he just sounds bad and generic.

I know it's not from his album, so what though - it's awful regardless. If Eminem came up with those lines he would get SLAUGHTERED for it. Em has had some horrible lines too since Recovery of course, but Drake somehow manages to get away with it, especially because he has that little escape clause of "not being strictly hip-hop".

In all fairness I haven't listened to any of Drake's albums from top to bottom. I listened to most of Take Care and just couldn't get into it at all. I can understand how some people might be able to relate to him, but the content he comes out with isn't inspirational in the slightest to me. The stuff he talks about is so shallow and meaningless in my eyes.... I therefore have no reason to listen to him when the likes of Lupe, Kendrick, Kanye etc are around instead.

He's bad musically? Take Care had some of the best production of 2011. 40, The Weeknd, Jamie xx. The musical style was excellent and innovative.

And Drake talks what he knows, he raps about his life. I relate to it. And he's very deep and personal with it. Stop looking for "genius" concepts, it's music. Do you look for "genius" lyrics in a classic Marvin Gaye record? Nah, it's all about women and love and life. But no, I've noticed on TR every rapper has to have insane concept songs to be respected. Stop boxing music in.

How is it corny or badly executed at all? Drake is well aware tons of people don't fuck with him, and those are the same people in their moms' basements bumping Canibus instead of out living life (I'm not talking about you specifically). That line is sick.

Because he is bragging about "getting pussy" - like that concept hasn't been played out a million times over already. It's sooo corny. What's more, he is implying that the people who dislike him as an artist must do so because they're not getting any pussy. It's actually a pretty bitter tone he is taking but he masks it with this "well I get pussy la la la" and misses the actual reasons why people like me dislike him. He just brushes it off like that must be the only reason. Believe it or not Drake, there are a lot of people who don't like your music who also get a lot of pussy. Bombshell.

Fair enough that he is getting pussy, but its like "damn, can't you think of anything else to say?" In my eyes, anyone that brags about getting it is a very, very boring person. If you're gonna talk about it, do it in SOME kind of creative way. Kanye doesn't go "i get pussy!", he creates imagery and makes it interesting and/or turns it into a story.... like "she's in the mirror dancin' so sleazy, I get a call like "where are you Yeezy?!" That's on top of a beat that he created. He doesn't need to make himself feel worthy by announcing to the world he gets pussy, like Drake does in that line.

Bottom line, I can understand why maybe guys in their late teens might look at Drake and be drawn to him. He has everything most young men ever want.... but he will never be a great artist in my eyes, unless he changes drastically.

I mean musically with his flow, delivery, his style. He doesn't produce the music, so you can't give him credit for the production - good or not.

As for concepts etc. - it's not about that either. As I like 2Pac for example, and Pac doesn't have endlessly deep or genius concepts, he's very true to life and head-on...

Drake is just corny and bad, I'm talking about how he sounds to my ears. His voice, his tones, his delivery, his way of doing things. Then, lyrically... regardless of content, regardless of what he's rapping about and irrespective of the point of the lyrics, I don't find his lyrical skill (in the sense of just, how he writes and phrases things) to be good either.

I just find him very generic, and not enjoyable to listen to.

It's not about concepts, 'deep' lyrics or anything else. Somebody can rap about anything and make it amazing on style alone, I'm about style, I'm about what I hear. And Drake sounds bad to me. I find him embarrassing to listen to.
