But yes Nas was the only competition... I do like J.Cole though.

Section.80 was easily better than Life is Good. I'd like you to explain why you think this, and I'm not hating on your opinion. I just want to know, even though I STRONGLY disagree.

What I said in another thread:

Man1x wrote:Kendrick deserved it this year tbh, Nas has been regurgitating the same album for nearly twenty years.

Anyway, I don't think an iTunes copy is coming out on October 2nd... I think "early copy" actually means pre-order. I hope I am wrong.

How so? He didn't really do anything this year.

He dropped MANY guest verses, two singles, and some of his songs leaked. Plus, if you count last year (which they may be, I don't know), he dropped Section.80

Man1x wrote:Lord forbid Kendrick get an award, damn... I'm just making the case for why he deserves it. Personally, I think he does. He dropped 40+ verses this year alone (2012). You don't need to drop an album to be nominated. Nas dropped Life is Good, cool. It's a solid album, but can get boring. It also sounds like he is still trying to recapture that Illmatic sound and feel, but once again failed. You think he'd learn after nearly twenty years. J Cole didn't drop an album, and almost no verses this year anyway (2012), Kanye only dropped some verses on Cruel Summer and some verses here and there, and Jay-Z had only a few guest verses. So, if you're talking about quantity, K. Dot got it. Also, I personally believe if you talking about quality, K. Dot got it.

Tech N9ne wasn't even the discussion in and, like you said, he wasn't nominated. Personally, quality over quantity, so I don't even care if he dropped four projects. They didn't pick Tech N9ne for a reason, and I agree with it. Okay, you already know I think E.B.A.H. sucked bar two tracks, the collaboration album lacked in major replay value (except Slave, I bump that a lot still), All 6's & 7's was a solid album but not the best of it's year or even top 5 (also gets boring, I can't listen to it all the way through like every Tech project), and Klusterfuk is seriously the only reason I would see him even being nominated. However, he wasn't.

Man1x wrote:Well, you walked into a conversation where I was saying he deserved the award and said I dick ride Kendrick, so I gave you a response. If you maintain your last response then your first one was off topic and irrelevant.

Life is Good is a modern verison of everything Nas has ever done. Maybe the beats sound a little more mainstream, but the tone and overall sound hasn't differed since he began rapping. The only time he has ever truly stepped out of the Illmatic formula was on Distant Relatives. Look at it this way, Distant Relatives was a U-Turn into the right lane, every other album by Nas before and after (except Illmatic), was Nas trying to get into the HOV lane. Instead, he kept on getting side swiped off the road to start at ground zero.

Now, I enjoy nearly all of Nas's work and I'd say he's one of the best, but to say he doesn't live in the shadow of Illmatic means you are just blind. He has never stepped out of his comfort zone except for once. Has he ever topped Illmatic? No. Will he ever top Illmatic? Not if he chases it every album he puts out.

I really like Section 80 and it was dope no doubt...I just like Life is Good a lot more. It is simple :y:

I respect that, but you know I disagree :D
