426k is definitely not disappointing for a COLLAB album.

i guess ur right but they had a huge amount of buzz on the internet

People forget that. I think with this album people assumed because they were both huge names within rap, it would just double-up sales wise. But it doesn't, it dilutes it.

actually ppl were thinking that since jay z and kanye have overlaping fans it wouldn't have sold double, but if u look at kanyes last album sales and jayz album sales this number seems reasonable

the Bad Meets Evil EP did less then 200k. And that had Em's name attached to it. Yeah it may of only been Royce with him but Em's name alone should of propelled it. The BME numbers are pretty disappointing given how big Em is right now.

ya but that was an ep, refill sold about the same....WTT was an album

But that just proves the point, another name only dilutes it.

ur completely right :y:

That doesn't really matter though lmao as...

Hell: The Sequel, the deluexe version is actually LONGER than Watch the Throne. Em and Royce just called it an EP so they wouldn't have the pressure of an album or have to care about as big sales expectations and rolling out promotion in the same way.

But technically speaking, it's an album. And it's still a collection of songs from two names in hip hop. Watch the Throne only has 12 official tracks. And it didn't have any huge singles either.

Why would it sell more though.

Just because Jay and Kanye are big forces in themselves doesn't mean the album will do both their usual numbers combined. Collab albums rarely fare that well at all.

Also, this EP had two minor singles. Okay not MINOR b ut they were hardly massive hits.

Where as Recovery had two MASSIVE no.1's leading up to it, plus Eminem's name is bigger than both of theirs combined. Obviously it wasn't gonna sell more.

Recovery only has Not Afraid out when the album dropped.
And the CD is a LP, not EP
I wanted an album so rugged nobody could touch it.
Spent a million a track and went over my budget.
Now how in the fuck am I supposed to get out of debt?
I can't rap anymore, I just murdered the alphabet.

Even so, "Not Afraid" was a huge no.1 and far bigger than either WTT single.

And Watch the Throne is an LP too. Not an EP. I miswrote when I said 'this EP' as I was thinking about BME and people comparing it, and thinking of it as an EP.

But it's an LP.
