Jay-Z showing flashes of greatness but that only lasts so long. Kanye being the below average rapper he is. Still on New Day but so far the album is average at best.
No.
This album has grown on me a WHOOOOLE LOT. This shit is amazing. Sure, it doesn't have 9 syllable rhymes per 1/4 of a line or incredibly complex metaphors or mind-blowing punchlines. BUT, it is legitimately GOOD music and I like the concepts scattered around the album. Definitely more than just bragadaccio. New Day is a very heartfelt song as is Why I Love You and Made In America. No Church In The Wild is one fucking badass song. Frank Ocean killed the hook and I absolutely love the part where the "WAIT A MINUTE, WAIT A MINUTE" kicks in. Then we have some muh'fuckin bangers/jams like N
.iggas In Paris, That's My Bitch, Who Gon' Stop Me and H.A.M. (Yes, HAM is dope). With that said, H.A.M. isn't as bad as I thought, it's not bad at all... it's actually awesome lol. Kanye's 1st verse is NOT bad at all. Ye's delivery is actually very suiting in here. Jay killed it. I really like the hook where they're like "hard as a mothafucker, let these n
.iggas know who I aaaaaam!". Amuses me. Beat on this song is the definition of BANGER. In conclusion, H.A.M. is my J.A.M. Lift Off is the weakest song on the album (not counting deluxe tracks) but it's also grown on me like 80% of the album. The only song I do not like at all is The Joy. Fucking hate the intro, the beat and the hook. Boring, dull song. Whatever. Primetime is also a bit boring but I still like it. The rest of the album is VERY good. 7's and up. Way better than MBDTF. Definitely better than R.E.D. Slightly better than Hell: The Sequel (Hurts me to admit it) and Success Is Certain (*tear*). Very, very close to All 6's & 7's. Since this album keeps growing on me every listen, A6&7 must watch its back. If only Face Paint, This Is Hip Hop and Rock & Roll N
.igga replaced the 3 filler tracks on the album, it wouldn't have to worry about this and it would be a definite classic... but that's a different discussion.
So disregard past remarks I've made about this album. It grew on me like I never EVER EEEEVER thought it would. Took me around 8 listens to LOVE this album but now it's gonna stay that way.
Overall score: 8.5/10.
