I was actually shocked at how well Em' was back on Infinite in terms of primitive punchlines.
It was early days and many rappers usually came up with corny shit, but Em' did pretty good.

Well Em was fresh in the battle scene at that time, a year before the Rap Olympics 1997 so it makes sense. He used a few of the punches from Infinite at the Olympics too.

He had a few shit ones too though...

I guess all this really falls down to the fact that Em' was just a kid really; following the trends of the time.

But he managed to sort of invent his own style as a battler and a rapper during the time he went to the Olympics to '98 when he really started to blow up.

I can't really see much of a difference in Em's style since then..

Sure he flows better and rides beats better, but he still uses the same sort of punches and poetic elements to make his lyrics interesting to read AND to listen to.

I can think of a lot of other rappers that have more of a poetic element, but Em' does a good job at what he does and so really, it makes him another example of how you can create good shit even when it's all been used before in some way by other rappers.

RA - the blended phrases and horrocore style complexity
Joe - the hard hit sometimes complex sometimes direct raw punches
