ASAP Rocky.. Easily the most talented overall artist here. Danny Brown and Dee-1 are awesome too. Fuck the Hopsin dickriders on here.

Don't sleep on Macklemore either. I voted him one time and Hop the other. There's plenty of artists on there who deserve it (except for Danny Brown. His voice and delivery is literally one of the worst I've heard, even on songs that aren't supposed to be him on drugs or whatever haha).

If we're Hopsin dickriders because we like him, than you're an ASAP Rocky dickrider AND a Danny Brown and Dee-1 dickrider.

Stupidest fuckin logic I've ever read on this site.

How many times i've seen him talk about ASAP = 2 times

How many times i've seen you(and other bandwagon riders) talk about Hopsin = >9000 times.

There's a difference.

Stolen from Funk Volume Facebook status from a few days ago. :shifty:

And that oddly ended up starting a huge argument on FV's facebook comment section, as usual lmao. Some people are dumb in the comments.

If you guys aren't dickriders, don't get offended when I mention the term. I'm not talking about you, appparently. Hopsin is okay, but this is the only site in the world where he gets this much love. His own Facebook page should have a link to this site.

Delete all of your recent history along with cookies and all that shit, and you should be able to cast another vote. Just voted again. By the way, when do we get back the results? And why can't we see who's winning? XXL is mad fucking suspect. They could add whoever the fuck they want into next year's freshman and nobody would even fucking know. Full of shit.

Anyone think hopsin actually has a good shot at getting on the cover? His youtube videos are bigger than all these guys and he has a dedicated fanbase. Only thing is I dont think he has much standing with mtv, xxl and the mainstream rap outlets. Some of these guys I've actually heard on xm, but not hopsin. I hope he gets it tho.. definitely deserves it

Also why is Tyler not up for nomination? I would think he would almost be a lock to get on the cover considerng he just won vma best new artist.

Lmao.

I was actually disappointed by what Hopsin said about... well he said in making his next album that he needs to go through some stuff first to draw inspiration.

As he has nothing to rap about and it would be redundant etc.

But, art is unlimited. This is the problem with some rappers, they limit themselves to the 'kinds' of songs they're used to in rap, with the same structures and so on.

There's so many concepts, abstract and just, so many inventive things you can do that don't even involve your life at all. You could try to write more ambitiously and try to write a song encapsulating morality, but... not in a preachy or self-serious manner, more in a conceptual manner like "Guilty Conscience". Rappers box themselves into a corner by just rapping about themselves.

Like Em did. And he took a leap forward with Relapse. He was beginning to just create free art again, rather than writing an autobiography every album. With something like "3 a.m.", Em is more like the painter painting the picture and the song has a theme and it's like just... just like a movie scene or something, why not think bigger. It's unlimited.

A director doesn't just make movies about themselves. Most great directors work in elements of their personality of course but the camera and the story are their tools. I wish more rappers would view the music this way, it'd be a lot more interesting.

I hear ya embase. Rap seems to be lacking in creativity and innovation when it comes to that stuff. Hardly any abstract concepts like that are pursued. You will see flashes of it at times, but for the most part it doesnt happen. The song you mentioned guilty conscience (whose concept was actually dre's idea) is a perfect example of that. Much of the sslp can be credited similiarily tho because a lot of the time he was not rapping through the perspective of himself really, but through that of the slim shady character/persona. In my opinion that is his best mostly abstract piece of work righ there. Relapse kind of had a similar idea to it, but didnt quite execute it as well. Still though that is miles ahead of what it seems anyone else is coming up with. Mainstream rap has basiclally came down to predictable, formulaic bullshit. People will start to get tired of this crap and there is a reason that its lost a certain amount of respect already. Your absolutely right. Rappers need to change it up.

IDK why but my computer hasn't been very good with saving history/cookies...so I've voted Hopsin over and over and over again.

Prolly cause you have a program that deletes your history as it is. Or...

Maybe the cookie monster ate that shit, who knows. :zipped:
