MBDTF, there should be no comparison.

Menzo, do you (or did you) get frustrated when you would try to explain Eminem's genius to someone only to hear the standard "he only talks about his Wife, mum and kids" or "he's a homophobe and a racist, they shouldn't call that music let alone art" or "all he's doing is talking over a beat" or "he's good, but he's only popular because hes white" etc? And you'd just think "You ignorant fucking idiot.. Don't talk bout what you obviously can't comprehend. Just because he makes art you can't appreciate doesn't mean it's poor. YOUR UNDERSTANDING of it is poor you numbskull!"

Well, that's exactly what you do with Kanye West and it's starting to piss me off.

What are you debating? Lyrical skills? Best delivery? Production? Creativity?

When it comes to being a raw, lyrical rapper Lupe destroys Kanye.

When it comes to producing larger-than-life music, focusing more on the overall spectacle / sound as if it were a movie, then Kanye wins.

Kanye's music reminds me of Michael Bay movies. They have lots of flashy, cool things, but the story / message is boring as hell, and even if it is a good message, I don't care to listen because it's so bland. (most times)

This is exactly how I feel.
And as for my choice, I really did not like either of them that much but I still have a few Lasers songs on repeat so I guess my choice is Lasers.

Man1x wrote:TRShady doesn't like singing, so they'll say it's shit anyway (however, it's not).

What does singing have anything to do with the opinion of the members here?
Em sang a LOT and he was awful on most occasions, but when he got someone like Dido, we loved it.
Yet another member jumps on the bandwagon :shakehead:
P.S. I was hooked on 808's when it first came out, it's still my favorite Kanye album, even know I don't even like the guy.

What bandwagon? Lmao. I love Eminem as much as you guys. I even think tha he's a decent singer. I mean Talk To Me's hook was fucking amazing IMO. But let's not make this a thread about Eminem, he has no place in this discussion. Also, when I said singing I meant R&B. TRSHADY DOESN'T LIKE R&B, FACT. If you dispute that I'll go over into the Slaughterhouse thread and pull all the comments about how people over there hate R&B or go into a Frank Ocean, 808s, or Drake thread. TRShady doesn't like R&B singing, there is no bandwagon.

No.

I don't bother discussing Eminem with people in an attempt to sway their opinions on him, the only time I would ever do that is when people ask me about Eminem, his music and why he's so highly regarded by the Hip-Hop community and myself - usually it's people who aren't familiar with rap.

That's what I meant. I don't just randomly start telling people how amazing Eminem is all the time.

Menzo wrote:That being said, your example isn't even an accurate comparison. I've always conceded the fact that Kanye is a talented artist and I respect that. I like more of his music than I dislike, I actually used to be extremely fond of him back in 2006 and 2007, I listened to a lot of Kanye - more than Eminem. But people here especially love to over-exaggerate his talent, the same way people over-exaggerate Eminem's talent here.

It's a bunch of biased Stanye's heaping praise upon their lord and saviour Yeezus, so when I see them exclaim his artistry and bask in his musical glory, I automatically know it's an excessive evaluation. The same with Stan's here, who can't admit Eminem's weaknesses.

There is no bias at all. I don't know Kanye personally, I have no stake in his success, financial or otherwise. I like his music because it is amazing and that is why he is praised so highly amongst his fans. for me at least, he has evolved and changed as an artist so much and each album has been at least an 8.5 and every beat he makes is a 10. It's because of his sheer talent and creativity that he is so highly praised, not because his fans are biased. I believe current Kanye > current Eminem and to be honest it shouldn't bother you that people discuss the bad things about Eminem's work. The man has changed so much over the years and not many people enjoy him as much as they used to. I still love his music but I bump MBDTF more that Relapse or Recovery, not because I am biased toward Kanye (if anything I should be biased toward Eminem-- He's my favorite artist of all time), but simply because it's a better album.

Menzo wrote:I really don't understand why I'm pissing you off, but it's no sweat off my nut sack. I could understand if I was on a Kanye West forum and disregarding his talent, but this isn't a Kanye West forum...nor have I denied his talent. But at least you can partially fathom the annoyance that some of us Eminem fans feel - being on an Eminem forum filled with members who make it their daily forum mission to shit on Eminem's performances and music, even before it's out. Now that's fuckin' stupid.

You say you don't understand why you're pissing me off, then in the same paragraph you tell me people who shit on Eminem annoy you. Well in that context, when I said that you shitting on Kanye was "Starting to piss me off" I meant it was starting to annoy me. When there is a post about MBDTF in HHD people are more than welcome to praise it and if you see a thread with "Kanye" or "MBDTF" just don't enter it. When you do enter it just to say some dumbass ignorant comment like "I wonder if it was shitter before or after", that's annoying.

Probably just because of your sheer volume of posts on the issue. I'm not discussing anything with your buddy just waiting to jump in. 8.5 is the definition of overrated? Lmao. Ok. I respect your opinions although I disagree, but practice what you preach. Don't aim to piss people off then get pissed off when people do it to your favorite artist. And if you do get pissed, don't complain about it because you are proud of the fact that you do exactly the same thing.

This is the definition of overrated by the fans.

But it's the truth.

You just said EVERY beat he's made is a 10. I can almost guarantee you think the beat for D12 World is bad. Kanye West made it, so why don't you bump it?

Where have I ever said something so stupid about Eminem? I've said things like "I love every one of his beats" or songs, or whatever, but I don't go around saying they're all perfect 10/10s and nothing can match it.

You also said Kanye is good because he's so different all the time, then you said Eminem is losing fans because of how much he keeps changes.

You moron.

:facepalm2
Yawn.. Obviously there are changes that are good and changes that are bad. I am sure Kanye has lost fans too, he copped crap for 808s but I respect him as an artist. His music is still of high quality. Eminem has rehashed a lot of the same topics of late (hoes/fast food) and while different to his old stuff it isn't as creative or as good.

There is no need for name calling, y u so mad?

Recovery was great!
I wanted an album so rugged nobody could touch it.
Spent a million a track and went over my budget.
Now how in the fuck am I supposed to get out of debt?
I can't rap anymore, I just murdered the alphabet.
