I haven't listened to him recently but I checked him out a couple years ago before he blew up and I thought he was alright but I didn't keep up with him. I have a ton of friends from Cleveland who love him though, apparently he's great live.

Lol man...really? Most music is listened to through people's cars or headphones.

I was at a Tech N9ne / Krizz Kaliko concert and people went nuts for the song Spaz by Krizz Kaliko.

So based on my experiences, Spaz >>>>> Mercy.

:facepalm

NOBODY has heard Spaz. What's the point of a single? To garner attention for your record. If nobody heard your single then how well did it do? This isn't rocket science. I haven't been to a party yet where Mercy wasn't played, I also haven't been to a party where "Spaz" has been played. This is as simple as adding 2+2 bro.

If he ever comes near your city or something, then you should definitely go to one of his shows. Picture the best show you've ever been to, well he might top that. The moshpits/crowds reactions/atmosphere around his shows are purely amazing, and he knows how to rock a crowd lol.

Also, if you thought he was alright back then then you'll probably think he got better. He has some great bangers that go hard in the car/club though like Wild Boy.

@Geno, lol not talking about tours/concerts.. go to a party, you'll see Mercy will be played. That's why it's a lot more popular, and that was the purpose of it. that's why it's great as a single.

I've obviously Wild Boy, but that's it, and I will admit, that songs goes super hard.

And I live in Columbus so MGK will definitely be coming to me a lot so I'm definitely going to be seeing him.

Well, then Starships is the biggest single in 2012 so far...

How big was 2 Chainz before Mercy came out, despite being on a boatload of songs previously?

Oh, yeah.. Not very big. At all.

So you're only proving more how big the song was.

My first post in this thread stated Mercy/Swimming Pools.

I wasn't sure which side he was on, that's why I tried to make it an unbiased post that could be taken either way. Guess I failed :p

I don't completely hate Mercy; it's on my iPod, and among the rest of shit in Cruel Summer, is one of the only salvageable tracks. However, is completely and absolutely mundane. Nothing special about it. The chorus is pretty cool, and I like the "dark" vibe the beat has.

But, if we are talking about songs that go hard, which is what I care when I talk about best single, Nas' The Don gives it a roundhouse kick to the jaw, Slaughterhouse's Hammer Dance sledge-hammers it and Big K.R.I.T.'s I Got This smashes its face against a brick wall with sticking iron nails.

Oh, I also found Swimming Pools to be really boring. Musically and lyrically speaking. The Recipe was excellent on the other hand. One of my favorite singles of the year.

It is boring. It has a good message and deep content when you look into it, but at face value, it's boring.

He's not wrong.
