He is nowhere near as big in the UK & Europe as he is in the US.

That's right. He only debuted at #8 in the UK with this album and will drop fast in the coming weeks. As for the other biggest music markets, Germany & Japan, he will be lucky to crack the top 40.
Not hating on lil wayne but his mainly just a north american based artist popularity wise. The whole 1st week sales thing isn't a big deal unless you can sell well consistantly and i doubt it will come near the best seller of last year (Recovery).

I don't think TES technically sold a million first week due to its release date. It did on the second week, though.
The album debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 with sales of 284,000 copies.[2] This marked the first time an album had topped the charts with such an abbreviated sales week.[11] The album sold 1,322,000 copies in its first full week of sales

Do you live in one of those countries where they're a decade or so behind in music, and stuff like the Spice Girls etc. are still in the charts?

Sukot wrote:Lil Wayne isn't very popular in the UK at all. I think the only hit he's had this year has been his song with Jennifer Lopez. All his other songs go top 50 on iTunes for a couple of days and then fall.
Even Look At Me Now, How to Love, I'm On One, She Will, Mirror, etc. all missed the top 40 in the UK.
