The sales figure just blew my mind ,how is it possible for a guy who's Album has less than 5 songs that has some good Replay value sells so much ,he is talented no doubt but not to the extent that he can be called great or his Albums a classic, because it is difficult for you to sell in such epic proportions if you ask me ,and not to forget he landed a collab with Eminem ,as we know Eminem does not work with any "Tom ,Dick or Harry" ,so he has a plus point there .

Well the reason of his success goes to his label also who has given him the Independence of doing what the fuck he want's to do ,no wonder he is in every other Rappers Album ,that in turn increases his Fan Base and these would definitely buy his album .

THere is trend sort of that the wackest sell more and the best or the extremely talented either sell more/less ,if only Eminem's fan base was still loyal like it used to be he would have sold a Mill with BOTH "Relapse" & "Recovery" ,not to forget "Nas" & "Jay-Z" also fall in the list of GOAT Artist who sell less then Wayne is a short span of time that is .

Gotta Respect this guy for what he is now . :y:

Hate him or not, Wayne is undoubtedly the most relevant, talked about, and current best selling rapper in the world. That's gotta stand for something no matter what your opinion on the guy is.

*in the US.

He is nowhere near as big in the UK & Europe as he is in the US.

It blows my mind that after the shittiness of Rebirth and I am Not a Human Being, fans still had confidence in him to buy his album.

That's right. He only debuted at #8 in the UK with this album and will drop fast in the coming weeks. As for the other biggest music markets, Germany & Japan, he will be lucky to crack the top 40.

Not hating on lil wayne but his mainly just a north american based artist popularity wise. The whole 1st week sales thing isn't a big deal unless you can sell well consistantly and i doubt it will come near the best seller of last year (Recovery).

True dat. Did he actually debut at #8 in the UK then? As I just had a quick look on itunes and it's saying he is #13 on there.... but I don't really keep upto date with chart positions.

Lol. At MTV "Lil Wayne was thisclose to making history as the first rap act to open with back-to-back million-selling albums. " they must not remember that eminem has already done that.

I don't think TES technically sold a million first week due to its release date. It did on the second week, though.

TES:
The album debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 with sales of 284,000 copies.[2] This marked the first time an album had topped the charts with such an abbreviated sales week.[11] The album sold 1,322,000 copies in its first full week of sales

Do you live in one of those countries where they're a decade or so behind in music, and stuff like the Spice Girls etc. are still in the charts?

Lmao no , we do stay up to date .
Hip Hop /Rap is not that famous here ,Eminem is well known here but.

Lil Wayne isn't very popular in the UK at all. I think the only hit he's had this year has been his song with Jennifer Lopez. All his other songs go top 50 on iTunes for a couple of days and then fall.

Even Look At Me Now, How to Love, I'm On One, She Will, Mirror, etc. all missed the top 40 in the UK.
