Don't be a bitter. Jay and Em are like the two top tiers, two best mainstream rappers alive (they're considered so, and don't try to deny it lol) by their pairs. Eminem is a lot more popular than Jay though, especially worldwide.

And if they learned to speak english because of him, that just means he's dope enough to make them want to understand what he's saying. Not Jay's case. So yeah, and yeah there are a lot of teenie boppers but you can say that for Jay too especially after WTT.

Lol how do they know he's dope if they can't understand him tho

Aren't the most popular artists in Europe Eminem, Lady Gaga, Adele and Pitbull or something?

I'm just saying, go to any rap forum other than an Eminem fan forum and they won't think Eminem is the consensus goat

Because he sounds good, and so they're interested to know what he says. This is how you break language barriers. The most popular artists in Europe are almost the same as in the US, except Pitbull might be more popular around here.

Like Kanye, Tyga, Wayne, Big Sean, even Jay though but he's not as liked as Eminem.

And there's no reason to not consider him as one of the best, since you're not counting inconsistency for Jay, let's forget how Em dropped one or arguably two shit albums.

His rhymes, content and writing skills are AT LEAST on pair with Jay's. So this is just about preferences.

+1 and you forgot a lot of rappers !!! Nas (wanted Em to come back coz he said " it would be the best thing to happen for hip hop"), Kanye west said it was the best rapper, tech n9ne, kdot also said that no one can fuck with Em, on stage, Drake called Eminem the greatest rapper of all time. so ofc we can find rappers ppl on trshady don't like, but heee, the half of the rappers we know consider eminem as one of the best, if not the best rapper to ever pick up the Mic ... :smoking:

agree, disagree ? don't care, this is what rappers have said, and this is probably what your favorite rappers said :smoking:

I am counting consistency though. Eminem was great for like 4 years and hasn't been good since. Jay-Z has been a GREAT rapper since Reasonable Doubt, he just puts out an average album every once in a while, usually to stay relevant (BP3 lol).

and again, i don't think jay is the best rapper ever. I'm just saying that the majority of big rap fans will have him in their top 5 at least.

and a lot of people listen to eminem without knowing why he was/is good, they just like how the music sounds so I don't really take those people into account lol

Nah, a lot of rappers/people said Eminem made a great comeback with Recovery.
I agree about the last thing and that's wack, but that goes for every popular song/artist. You think people were listening to what was being said on Empire State of Mind? Nah lol they don't relate, they don't care, it just sounds good.

Though I love Jay to be honest, American Gangster, Black Album, Reasonable Doubt are 3 of my favorite rap albums lol.

I'll add something to what revolutionary has said.

you don't care about sales ? well, he's the biggest seller of the decade, the biggest seller (at least in the world or in the usa) in 2010 with recovery...
so ppl can lame him on YOUR forums, the man can still have a new public, and a fucking BIG public...
everybody can hate him but the man will always be in hip hop history and will be known as one of the greatest rappers ever ( if not THE greatest...)

Revolutionary wrote:Dumbest thing i've ever read.

How come almost every new up and comer mentions Em as an influence? How come old school rappers give him props? How come everyone that's worked with him said it was incredible? How come the most lyrical rappers right now, either underground or mainstream wanna work with Em?

Do you know why? It's because they don't log on forums and jump on bandwagons, they say what they think....freely.

Just shut up with your weak arguments, Slug gave props to Em not too long ago and that dude is dope and knows what's good.

Em is the rapper that people love to hate but can't ignore the fact that he'll always be in everyones' favorite rapper's top 5.

pretty sure you can bring up TONS of quotes from respectable rappers about Lil Wayne too. He's the biggest rapper in the world, if I was an up and coming rapper I would kiss his ass too lol. I mean, Slug has arguably the best discography in rap but you could probably find rappers giving Wayne more compliments than him

And I'm not talking about rappers, what I said about hip hop heads is true lol.

nah, but it has a lot to do with what he has said, that ppl hate eminem and thinks he's bad, he also said something like " only you guys think eminem is dope but go and check every other hip hop forum, eminem is bad for other ppl"

if it was right, the man wouldn't be the seller he is today =p

200k @ first week for his "rock" album, can't even remember the title... it didn't happen to Eminem.
And don't forget wayne only sells a lot of copies during the first week, like 1 milli first week and 170k second week... Em can sell during the 10th week.
