Hmm. That's well put. But surely your reductionistic version of lyricism is just word choice?

Would the same logic mean alliteration is not part of lyricism? or perhaps even vocabulary?
i.e. changing a word would affect your vocabulary and changing a word would also affect your 'lyricism'.

'lyricism' to ME is , to put it easy, when a rapper tries to paint a bigger picture for the listener. When a songs lyrics makes me sit down for a while and think about what I just heard. Sometimes this makes songs sound bad, but thats when things get really intresting, cause it can take hundreds listens before the meaning is so clear that I wonder why I was confused at all.

Well for one, I think vocabulary is kind of pointless, but it also goes hand in hand with word choice. If the word you're choosing is a better word then the lyricism goes up and vice versa.

And I wouldn't really consider alliteration a part of lyricism, it's more in delivery or maybe flow since that's what it's helping.

I still feel that's rhyming is part of lyricism as its part of the "how you are writing" - by rhyming.

But I see how you are saying the how you are writing pretty much covers word choice and rhyming is a by product of picking certain words.

Not necessarily. A lot of times things won't rhyme unless delivered properly (Relapse is a great example)
