OFWGKTA? Opinions?

Postby FreeSpeech » Mar 11th, '11, 16:28

What do you think of these guys? They just made the cover of Billboard. Tyler the Creator is pretty dope, Yonkers is a sick track. The other dude who gets the most attention is Earl Sweatshirt who, IMO, blows. He sounds like every other youtube rapper, and just says controversial stuff for the hell of it. His flow sucks, and his multis are average at best.

This song, on the other hand, is one of the best things I've heard in recent memory. Incredible voice and lyrics.

Bold statement, real bold statement.

I haven't really taken the time to listen to their shit, but their alright from what I listened to. We also have to take into account how young Earl is, he's only like 17 and he's already releasing decent songs.

He was 16 at the time of his Earl album. That album is so damn good.

But it's true, there hasn't been a group like this since Wu-Tang.

IDK his lyrics just seem to be mostly shock value to me, I'm not saying he can't improve, but I didn't like it. Bastard, on the other hand, is flipping fantastic. Tyler is crazy clever.

And this group is nothing like Wu, they're paving their own path, which is good.

His lyrics are incredible for his age. The song "EARL" has so much great lines and flow, it's ridiculous. And I mean they are the new Wu-Tang, as in a big group making a huge impact. I don't mean the music they are making is just like C.R.E.A.M. or something.

Just started listening to them, they're fucking funny and definitely aren't to be slept on. I'm especially digging Tyler The Creater.

Yeah Tyler's for sure the most unique. Look up his Shade45 interview on Youtube, it's hilarious.

Frank Ocean is amazing. Listen to Novacane, Sucka For Love, We All Try, Anywhere, and Scared of Beautiful. Those are some great songs.

Tyler is okay to me. Sometimes I think I like him; other times I just don't feel his music. My favorites of his are Transylvania, Yonkers, Radicals, and his track with Pusha. I forgot the name of that one, something Trouble.

I can't say I've really checked Earl out that much. I like his track Drop. That's honestly all I've listened to, so I can't really give an opinion on him.

Hodgy Beats has a cool song, Bad Candy, that I really like, but that's all I've heard from him as well. Also, his Mellowhype tracks with Left Brain that I like are Fuck The Police and Strip Club.

I've been listening to Frank Ocean the most though for sure. He's super talented.
