Akala is one of those few artists that I listened to before I was properly into hip-hop (my brother had Welcome To England on his phone) and since I seriously got into the genre, I really shyed away from listening to him a lot. Didn't even have his discography on my iPod (SHOCK HORROR!!)
But since the Fire In The Booth freestyle came out (absolutely insane) I can't get enough. Been listening to It's Not A Rumour ridiculous amounts and have managed to (almost) get into DoubleThink (production put me off for a while).
While not the best rhymer in the world, his delivery, content, overall mic presence and interesting song structures make him such an interesting listen. He was great live when I saw him warm up for Nas & Damian Marley as well.
Pretty much a pointless topic but I'm sure you can get something out of it.
