Favorite '90s Album?

Postby Slim Fiasco » Sep 5th, '11, 18:58

I've noticed that this forum isn't big on older Hip-Hop so I was curious to see what have you guys checked out from that time period (excluding TSSLP).

De La Soul - De La Soul Is Dead
...The mortician of love, sent from above
Forced entry, the more wenchy, the more stingy I become
Been doing this for more than a quarter century, I'm just numb...

Big L - Lifestylez of the poor and dangerous

That one just has all the right elements to be considered an all time classic; soulful and jazzy beats, complex rhymes and flows and some of the rawest lyrics ever written from beginning to end. I Don't Understand It alone stands out to me as one of the best diss tracks of all time (albeit not being aimed at anyone particular).

These lines alone apply to almost everyone coming out with big albums these days:

"Your technique and everything you speak's weak
You got a little airplay because of your beats
Your fame and your name, but your lyrics are lame."
"Historically speaking cause people be dissin', the first graffiti artists in the world were the Egyptians." - KRS-One

Do you want me to ruin your life and tell you the Blueprint came out in 2001?
