Yeah there honestly is kind of a double standard here, when someone raps about being a serial killer it's accepted as fiction. But when a nonsmoker makes a song about smoking weed they're considered fake because so many people smoke that it's a common thing.

I think there is a difference between what 50 did and what Em does.

It's obvious Eminem doesn't go around killing people. He does the type of stuff that lends you to believe it's creative hyperbole, if not outright fabrication. It's like a comic book. You don't expect him to be rooted in reality, and you can tell the difference easily when he is being serious.

50 Cent does not separate himself from reality as much as Eminem does in his music. When you hear 50 Cent talking about selling coke, or even plotting to shoot some one, you take it as being rooted in reality, to some extent.

Now, obviously, you don't think he is literally heroin in human form, as he raps in "A Baltimore Love Thing". However, when he's talking about smoking weed, injecting it into everything he does in a song like "High All The Time", you have no reason to think that he's not being serious, because he's not saying anything out of the realm of probability.

Eminem isn't targeting serial killers with a song like Stay Wide Awake. 50 Cent is targeting smokers with a song like "High All The Time", without much question. It just hurts his credibility, whether it's right or wrong.
