Most of the snippets don't sound to promising either. But I'm not going to cling to a negative opinion before the album has actually dropped.

Lmao, listen to the album before you pass judgment. If anything he hasn't fallen off, but just made some commercial tracks. Cole doesn't want to sell 20k his first week than get dropped.

Someone from JCN that went to an early album listening session said the album was flawless, and definitely as classic. But than Jay got ahold of the album and included in the morning etc...and dropped a couple of the songs.

So commercial appeal and label politics are definitely playing a part in this album. Just try to listen to it with an open mind then make up your opinion based off of that.
