Comparing Dizzy Wright to Tupac

Postby Words » Mar 23rd, '12, 03:07

I've heard people make this comparison for awhile, and I always dismissed it. I've always held Tupac in high regards, not for his lyricism necessarily, there have been far better lyricists since then, but for the messages and meanings he conveyed in his songs. Some of his music (not all) was deeply emotional and had a very strong message tied to it. This is what puts him on my playlist.
I never listened to Dizzy very much, especially before he joined FV...I had never even heard of him. I've been listening to a lot of Dizzy Wright lately though and I'm starting to see the comparison. Dizzy has a similar style and he also conveys messages and meanings in a lot of what he writes. He doesn't do it in a way that bites Tupac's style either, he does it in his own way.
I was just wondering what you guys thought about this comparison and whether or not it was justifiable.

(P.S I'm not saying Tupac and Dizzy Wright are the only two artists who have messages in their songs, any good artist will. They just have a gift for doing it well)
