Shady Records.YO wrote:You want to start with Tech N9ne? I think you should start with straight classic hip-hop. Albums which you HAVE TO know as a fan of hip-hop are:
2Pac - All Eyez On Me
....
long list of "classics"
Wu-Tang Clan - Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)
Why the FUCK would you do that? Let me ask you a question, if someone wanted to read a novel would you recommend MacBeth or you would recommend The Da Vinci Code? If And if "the foundations" are all that matters why are there only 90's RAPPERS on it? Early 80's? 70's? Hell in the 60's there was fucking hip-hop but why not mention that? Fuck outta here with that snobish shit.
Now, since you want to BUY these albums, i would recommend you sample all the new guys/ albums coming out by checking out free shit on the mixtape circuit. Go on Datpiff for the official download (written with a sponsored) or just google them. Makes you find value for money faster.
Yes, Start with Tech N9ne, he's AMAZING.

All 6's and 7'sKendrick Lamar is very popular and i (think) he's mixtape is free so you should check it out

-Section 80The most creative artist in hip-hop now is Kanye West so you should probably start with him-
Recommended-
Graduation
My Beautiful Dark Twisted FantasyNas is a LEGEND and this album changes the pace with a mix of reggae so try it

Distant RelativesThis one is a selfish choice but i LOVE it. Mike Shinoda (from Linkin Park) formed a group Fort Minor and they have an album-
The Rising TiedSince you like Eminem, EVERYTHING by him is a must listen (whether good or bad) so SSLP, MMLP, TES, Encore, Relapse and Recovery. Add Re-up, 8 mile soundtrack, D12 world, Devils night etc.
One good way of listening to hip-hop is to look at the grammys for Rap album of the year and see if artists you like had albums nominated. Not necessarily the best albums of the year but they will be good.
