Rank The Wu Tang Members

Postby tadpole25 » Sep 5th, '12, 02:01

There are no bad Wu Tang members, but I will rank them from great to greatest.

>>Great<<
9 U-God
One of the best voices in the group, adding a bass tone. He completely killed Gravel Pit. Though his solo career wasn't as successful and he just isn't as lyrical as the others.

"RAW IMMA GIVE IT TO YA / WITH NO TRIVIA / RAW LIKE COCAINE STRAIGHT FROM BOLIVIA"

8 Masta Killa
No one can doubt that his verse on Mystery of Chessboxing, his only credit on their debut, was one of the greatest Wu Tang verses ever, if not the greatest. However, by being incarcerated early, he became a largely forgotten member.

"HOMICIDES ILLEGAL AND DEATH IS THE PENALTY / WHAT JUSTIFIES THE HOMICIDE WHEN HE DIES"

7 RZA
One of the best producers ever (next to Dr. Dre). He is the body of the group, the leader. Lyrically, he is great, but he doesn't flow as well as the other members.

"CRAZY FLAMBOYANT FOR THE RAP ENJOYMENT / MY CLAN INCREASE LIKE BLACK UNEMPLOYMENT"

6 OI' Dirty Bastard
In terms of flow, the most unique of the group and the most unique of any rapper ever. Half-sung, half-rapped, nothing like it. He's the unpredictable wildcard of the otherwise structured group. While his delivery is key, his dependence on ghostwriting keeps him out of the top 5. But easily, he is the soul of the group.

"FIRST THINGS FIRST, MAN / YOU'RE F--KING WITH THE WORSE / I BE STICKIN' PINS IN YOUR HEAD / LIKE A F--KING NURSE"

5 Inspectah Deck
He dominates nearly every single track he's on, such as Triumph. He has great lyrical prowess, but he had a poor solo career, he's one of the more forgotten members, and his biggest flaw was that he wasn't eccentric enough, compared to the other 8 profiles in the group.

"I BOMB ATOMICALLY, SOCRATES PHILOSOPHIES AND HYPOTHESES CAN'T DEFINE HOW I BE DROPPIN THESE"

4 Method Man
Defined by the lone solo-track on the debut, METHOD MAN. His rhymes are lighthearted and catchy, his flow is smooth, and he has a sense of humor. Easily, he was the most successful solo member of the group.

"HEY YO GET OFF MY GRIND / YOU DONT KNOW ME AND YOU DONT KNOW MY STYLE"

3 Ghostface Killah
Aside from Method Man overall (and ODB before his death), Ghostface is easily the most successful solo-wise. His lyrics are the most aggressive and loud in the group, with a higher-pitched voice than some of the other members, but easily one of the most distinguishable voices of the group. Overall, nothing but good things to say about Ghost.

"SLAMMIN A HYPE ASS VERSE / TILL YOUR HEAD BURST"

2 Raekwon
Whereas some of the other members were lighter, more comical, Raekwon rapped mostly about the streets, about a life where you had to sell cocaine to have food on the table. His solo album Cuban Linx was great. While some of his lyrics were corny, he had overall great delivery, passion, and he truly spoke from the heart.

"DONT ANGER THE TECH 9 / BLOW MOVE FROM THE GATE NOW"

>>Greatest<<
1 GZA / The Genius
ODB was the soul, RZA was the body. GZA, the third founder, along with ODB and RZA, is the mind. He ghostwrote for ODB and he trained Masta Killa how to rap. He is the oldest member and the only to get an individual record deal before the group formed. He's easily in the top 20 best lyricists of all time. His rhymes are metaphorical, witty, rarely corny, and always intelligent and thought provoking. He doesn't try to rap fast or hide behind an intense beat. He focuses purely on the lyrics. As Method Man said, if Wu Tang were Voltron, GZA would be the head. Oh, and check out his Liquid Swords album.

"THE WU IS TOO SLAMMIN FOR THE COLD KILLAH LABEL / CUZ THEY AINT SEE HITS SINCE I SEEN AUNT MABLE / DOIN ARTISAN LIKE CAIN DID ABEL / NOW THEYRE MONEYS GETTIN STUCK TO THE GUM UNDER THE TABLE"

Your opinion?
"I take yall diss as endearment - I love it when I hear it
Maybe words offensive - free speech I don't fear it
Maybe music can take us to a place so atmospheric
Beyond our greatest imagination, illuminatin' experience
If we open our ears and close our inhibitions, it's clear"

yea, our list is largely the same.

ghost vs raekwon - ghost has the voice and lyrics, raekwon has the flow and the message.

deck was more lyrical than meth, so i understand why you would prefer him.
