"good kid, m.A.A.d. city" Update

Postby Man1x » Sep 8th, '12, 19:00

This is a small update, but I thought it was pretty cool. The album is being mixed by Dr. Dre, Big Bass (the man who mixed The Chronic 2001), and Ali (the man who mixed Section.80, Control System, Habits & Contradictions, Overly Dedicated, Longterm Mentality, Setbacks, Follow Me Home, Black Friday, etc., basically anything that involves a member of T.D.E/Black Hippy).

good kid, m.A.A.d. city is a classic in the making and will undoubtedly be cemented into hip-hop history, quote me when I'm right.

Brian "Big Bass" Gardner has mastered/mixed, along with The Chronic 2001, Speakerboxx/The Love Below, The Slim shady LP, The Marshall Mathers LP, The Eminem Show, A Thousand Suns, etc. He has many more that he has done work on, I just choose ones that everyone here knows.

I'm expecting it to be good, but please don't say things like that.

You'll look stupid if it's wrong.

I won't be wrong, watch.

The Recipe (feat. Dr. Dre) & Swimming Pools (Drank) are the two released singles, however it is speculated that The Recipe may not make the final track-list. Swimming Pools (Drank) is actually been going strong on iTunes as well. It stayed in the top 5 for a week, then it dropped to the top 10 for two weeks, and the past three weeks it has been in the top twenty. It peaked at #5. These charts are the iTunes Hip-Hop Chart, not overall. Also, The Recipe peaked at #20 and has stayed in the top 90 since it's release.

Well... that's really disappointing. Swimming Pools is horrible imo. I honestly don't see what you see in it. Must be a Kanye fan thing (not to spark an argument, I'm just saying it kinda sounds like something he'd make). The pre-chorus, beat, hook, all of it is just boring. I feel like I'm drowning in a swimming pool while I'm listening to it; no that's not a good thing.

On the other hand though, The Recipe is dope as hell. Dre (Kendrick lol) kills it, and Kendrick's murdering it too. The beat is very chill, and their delivery keeps me interested...but you're telling me it might not make the final tracklist? Disappointing. :n:

The Recipe wasn't amazing for Kendrick Lamar standards, and Swimming Pools (Drank) is an amazing single  It's not even a Kanye fan thing, there isn't one song that Kanye has made like this off the top of my head. It's a brilliant depiction of the effects of alcohol from all angles of perspective over a T-Minus beat (you'd know him from "Frat House" and "Throw That") that could be played in multiple environments and moods. It's just a chill song that you can either party to, listen in depth looking for meaning to, or just casual listening. I mean it's great. The only thing I haven't been able to do with it is work out.

Well I guess that agree to disagree. I thought you'd hate "The Recipe" to be honest, I didn't think you'd like that beat.

Anyway, I love the horns Dr. Dre added to the end of Swimming Pools (Drank), and I can just tell he had something to do with the drums on The Recipe and Swimming Pools. :worship:

I love the dual hooks, if that's even the technical term for it.

Hey Geno, look up War is My Love. That's a solo Kendrick Lamar song I have a feeling you'll love.
