I liked it, maybe it wasn't one of the best song of the year but it had a HUGE buzz. That's his most popular song.

I thought the message was stupid and preachy, he tries to act like Lupe but doesn't execute it nearly as much. It just comes off as him whining.

I really dont see the preachyness of it. It's about a guy whose tired of everyone around him wasting their lives and subsequently crying about it; and the song is him expressing his pure frustration over it while handing out the cold hard truth on the subject. Hes not asking anything of anyone, but hes completely right that Romeo is not going to be in the back of the club and that those girls have no right to complain about their situation; that the guys that just sit around drinking with the bros aren't going to be successful. Its basically a "you reap what you sow" sort of thing, those people can't complain about their simple shitty lives since they never once tried for anything higher and its frustrating for other people to watch happen. The whole song seems very heartfelt and genuine and it definitely resonates with me.

Frankly, from my point of view it seems the people complaining about preachyness are the sort of people who are being talked about in the song and that they are offended, subsequently becoming defensive. If anyone feels that way I recommend Bruce Springsteen records. Of course theres no way that this applies to everyone who didnt like the song and I can see why people might find Hopsin whiny. I personally thought Hopsin's execution was perfect (with the exception of the "you don't deserve a brain GIVE ME IT") so I'm being a bit defensive myself.

I love the song, I think it's one of the best and one of my favorites of the year. More on it in Fiasco Classics #1. Link in my signature.

No, I hate how Hopsin seems to think everyone who enjoys drinking on a Saturday night are alcoholics who do nothing else. Or smoking some Marijuana means we do nothing else... I don't really like Hopsins new subject matters and feel KM is going to be an album full of preaching, I hope not. :n:

Yeah I could see that but that doesn't make the message any less true, it's hilarious how many people who know fit the exact description he's talking about. I just like the fact that he doesn't give in and says w/e the fuck he wants even if his own fans don't like it he stays true to himself.

i didn't feel it very much. was a random shot at an easy target and not a lot of colorful rhyme schemes or flows in between. but that's just me iunno.

I don't see why he doesn't get mad at religious folk for their drone-like support for absolute genocide; further fueled/manipulated by the evil rich white guys who are truly running shit. I mean he repeatedly uses illuminati as evidence in his lyrics, yet he's never really gotten down to supporting his case. Or his case for his religious beliefs for that matter. Meanwhile he's bitching about marijuana then signing Dizzy. :coffee:

I feel that if you're going to attack a faceless group -- still-developing teenagers are such an obvious and easy target that you don't even waste the time. Wait until they're established as human beings and getting in your way before you get on the offensive. Otherwise you're just picking and choosing what you want to be mad at which is a sickeningly subjective thing to do. And it makes you no better than the target at that point.

I completely agree, being one myself. Hence why I'm saying it's an unfair thing to attack as a whole.

He really didn't. It's more people who center their entire life around it. As in lazy ass people who don't work or have any aspirations whatsoever but think the only point of life is drinking, partying, & getting high. Of course not everyone who smokes or drinks is like that, but the song is addressing today's teens/young adults which a lot he says is true.

Yes and what i'm saying is this song isn't about smokers or teens as a whole. It's about certain types of people in those groups. At the end he says something about black people not evolving, he's obviously not saying that everyone of that race is that way or that all females are the way he depicts them in this song. As far as what he said about today's youths though i'd say he IS talking about the majority, at least where i'm from.

I dont really see how hes saying all people who go drinking or smoking are bums. I thought he was going specifically at people who live to do nothing but smoke and drink.

Second verse: "waaaaahhhhh women only date asshole, they don't like a 'niceguy' like me"
"I take yall diss as endearment - I love it when I hear it
Maybe words offensive - free speech I don't fear it
Maybe music can take us to a place so atmospheric
Beyond our greatest imagination, illuminatin' experience
If we open our ears and close our inhibitions, it's clear"
