top 10 rappers of all time

Postby tadpole25 » Dec 7th, '12, 18:01

you make your list, i make mine.

Here's MY criteria:
- Lyrics
- Flow
- Delivery
- They needed to have an impact on hiphop to be considered, but that's not the main criteria
- they've been out for a while
- they've made several albums

My List (unordered)
GZA, Eminem, Andre 3000, Rakim, Nas
Tupac, Jay Z, Big L, Big Pun, Ice Cube

My list can change of over time as it is difficult to judge so many people on so many diverse aspects, but overall, I'm happy with it.
"I take yall diss as endearment - I love it when I hear it
Maybe words offensive - free speech I don't fear it
Maybe music can take us to a place so atmospheric
Beyond our greatest imagination, illuminatin' experience
If we open our ears and close our inhibitions, it's clear"

I only consider the quality of the albums and the talent of the rapper.

1. Eyedea
2. Slug
3. Nas
4. Talib Kweli
5. Copywrite
6. Sadistik (Will raise after he releases more albums if they are the same quality as his first)
7. Grieves
8. Spoonfull
9. Lupe Fiasco
10. Mc Bliss

Edited it to change it some after I thought more

Also, people that could make it with more quality material: Diabolic, Possessed, J. Cole, Macklemore, Celph Titled
People that suffer from an extremely inconsistent discography: Eminem, Vinnie Paz, Jay-Z

I don't think Man on the Moon II is a classic.

And as much as I love Kanye... not sure about all three of those albums being classics either.

Also, Watch the Throne? are you kidding me. Their standard is way too low and they dick ride the fuck out of Kanye lmao. WTT has some classic moments, some fantastic tracks, but a CLASSIC album? nah, it's full of holes and inconsistency.

tech n9ne is a really good rapper

but i think it's way too early to include hopsin.

he's only been out for a few years and he really hasn't put out that much music.

his album raw was good, but his first album was meh at best.

I'm unable to do that, I haven't heard enough rappers to make a list. I feel like putting some rappers that I know over some that I don't and are probably doper would be unfair.

I'll have to listen to a lot of rappers.

Em has an inconsistent one now but... would the quality of his first three and talent he is at his best not put him in the top 10 :confusion: ?

You said quality of the albums and the talent, surely the quality of his first three and talent he was puts him up there for you?

Not really, the quality of his albums are shit now and his talent has almost disappeared so that's enough to cancel out his first three albums in my book.

Hm, okay. I don't personally 'cancel albums out', I don't see how that make sense. He still made them and they still exist... he could make another 50 Encore's but SSLP, MMLP and TES still exist and their qualities haven't been diminished or extinguished, they're right there, independently.

Tarantino made Deathrpoof, but it can't cancel out Pulp Fiction to me. It's still there.

Yeah but they bring down the quality of his overall career
