hiphop disrespectful, yet women dance to it

Postby tadpole25 » Dec 28th, '12, 18:03

i've though about this irony, that so many people have pointed out:
why is it that hiphop lyrics objectify women, yet women still love dancing to it at the clubs

it's not that women are too stupid to figure out the lyrics and they just like the beat

it's because women actually like being objectified. but not just by any guy. these lyrics like "i'm gonna eat you all night" and "i wanna see you get freaky all night", let women fantasize about an ideal man.

women love sex. sorry feminists and social conservatives, but sex does exist, people like it, and this is real life - not disney land. but only by a man who they are sexually attracted to.

if a guy who a girl isn't attracted to is sexual, it's CREEPY. but if she's REALLY into a guy, she'd love to be objectified by him.

your thoughts?
"I take yall diss as endearment - I love it when I hear it
Maybe words offensive - free speech I don't fear it
Maybe music can take us to a place so atmospheric
Beyond our greatest imagination, illuminatin' experience
If we open our ears and close our inhibitions, it's clear"

If a black rappers says nigga, white people should not listen to it? 'Cuz that would make them racist? Your argument is loosely based on the statement I made.

No. How would a white man find that offensive?

If a song contains offensive material then someone will find it offensive. Like the songs Kill You, Kim, Stay Wide Awake... They all contain misogynistic lyrics and some women would find it offensive.

You do realize that a white man is not allowed to use the N word. Consider a song, like Welcome To Detroit. Trick calls Eminem his *****. Imagine a white man saying that in front of black male. Why should he fear? If the rule of using the N word applies to a white man, then he would feel offended when he's called a ***** himself. There's no argument in this, and my justification was weak and doesn't support what I said that well. The thing is, some people find certain thing offensive; others just don't care.

"You think I won't choke no whore til the vocal chords don't work in her throat no more?" Is offensive to women. If you can't understand why some women would be offended by that then lol...

In your example you mention a black man saying nigga and question if a white man should be allowed to listen.
However, In the OP, he didn't say women shouldn't be able to listen to it. I think he raised a valid (albeit obvious) point about women and their selective whoreishness, for lack of a better term.

Your example literally had nothing to do with the OP, that's all I was saying.

Or they just dont care. I listen to rap music most of the time, yes it's objectifying and disrespectful most of the time, but its a form of entertainment. I kinda compare it to comedy, comedians can joke about almost anything, even if its controversial. It stays funny and should be tolerated.

The thing is, I think a lot of women just hold the stance that "It's just music." Music is art (Debatable for some artists...) and entertainment, so certain things you can't always take at face value. Eminem wouldn't really go out and dispose of Kim's body with his baby daughter at the time, would he? No, it's artistic expression. If rappers always did everything they said, then Hip Hop would be painted in a much worse light than it is now.

but my argument isnt just that women ignore the objectification and just listen to the music.

but they like the objectification, and they like to fantasize that it's a guy that theyre attracted to who is objectifying them

Let go. I couldn't place my argument well. :shakehead:

It's difficult to say that they shouldn't enjoy those songs or not. I mean, kids shouldn't be listening to such things, but they do.
