Inspired by a message from Lance5.
There's no doubt that Chronic is the more influential album, BY FAR.
But personally, I prefer GKMC.
Dre only had one verse in most of the songs, and I think there were a few with no vocals from him. Dre's delivery was good, but his flow was clumsy (and monotone) and his lyrics were simplistic. Kendrick had much better lyricism, flow and storytelling. Kendrick held a whole album without it becoming stale, whereas Dre relied on features as a crutch.
I'll give credit to Chronic for solid production, though GKMC also had decent production. GKMC was conceptual and great at storytelling. Dre's album felt like just a parody of what the NWA was.
Dre's album had more memorable songs, but it also had like 5 or 6 skippables. GKMC, to me, only had 2.
Also,
> Dre says "weed causes brain damage and brain damage i can't manage"
> Then makes a whole album about smoking weed.
Chronic was a bigger landmark in hiphop, no doubt.
But I've listened to GKMC more.
