Stevie Wonder Criticizes Lil Wayne

Postby LEVITIKUZ » Feb 16th, '13, 20:41

It looks like Lil Wayne isn't quite out of the woods with regard to his controversial lyric in the remix of Future's "Karate Chop." Now, one of R&B's most celebrated figures is taking Weezy to task over his notorious reference to Emmett Till.

In a recent report from the Associated Press, legendary singer-songwriter Stevie Wonder commented on Wayne's infamous lyric that he “beat that pussy up like Emmett Till.” Wonder said that the YMCMB rapper crossed a line in equating Till's racially motivated murder to sex, and added that someone should have been there put Weezy in check before the track's release.

"You can't equate that to Emmett Till. You just cannot do that," he explained. "I think you got to have someone around you that - even if they are the same age or older - is wiser to say, 'Yo, that's not happening. Don't do that'...sometimes people have to put themselves in the place of people who they are talking about. Imagine if that happened to your mother, brother, daughter or your son. How would you feel? Have some discernment before we say certain things. That goes for me or any other writer."

In the wake of the song's release, the family of Emmett Till released a statement condemning the song and demanding an apology from Lil Wayne. Epic Records ultimately pulled the "unauthorized" remix and issued an apology.

If Stevie Wonder is criticizing you, nobody will like you. Stevie is respected at least unlike Wayne

By the way I got a parody idea of the line Wayne did

"Beat the pussy up like Em on a Wayne track"

That sounds good?

U sure his label didn't help? He has a fan base I never said he didn't but many fans of Wayne don't like him anymore after Carter 3 including tr fans.

Curious how well is carter 4 today? If u notice his sales in the 2nd week dropped significantly.

Look at his concerts, he never perform for small audiences

People have been saying that since 2005 but he is still selling million of copies and most of his concerts are sold out (even in Europe in 2013)

We can say the same about Eminem tbh
I have a feeling that a lot of fans didn't rly like recovery when it came out but the man is still a super star :y:

if anything, Wayne lost some fans but a lot of people discover his music every day, just like Eminem.
(And no, I'm not comparing the quality of their music =p)

Compare 50 Cent to Wayne and you'll see that only one of them is struggling with his musical career.

Stick to Wayne and keep EM out for fuck sakes.

We can also say EM gained a bunch of fans with Recovery :facepalm

I can count numerous people I know that HATE Wayne now but liked him before.

I dont even know what ur debating about tbh.

na, I don't know what YOU are debating about.

Compare Wayne to 50 or whoever you want who is really struggling with his musical career and you'll see that Lil Wayne is fine with his career.
Wayne is still selling a lot of copies, most of his shows are sold out , he is always on radio with some hits,... so yeah, let's say that his own fan base has turned on him and that his label decided to buy his albums :coffee:
You know people who hate wayne now but liked him before ? well, I can say the same for a lot of artists and they're still super stars.

I don't defend anybody :coffee:
Just pointed out that Wayne is fine with his career and that 50 is struggling with his musical career.
I would say the same about my favorite rapper if he was struggling with his career.

Trims talked about wayne's sales and you said : "U sure his label didn't help? He has a fan base I never said he didn't but many fans of Wayne don't like him anymore after Carter 3 including tr fans."

I just pointed out that Wayne is still selling a lot of copies, most of his shows are sold out , he is always on radio with some hits,... so if he really lost some fans then it's not a problem because it's clear that he has gained a bunch of new fans

Didn't Eminem do all of this before? Lol, people are acting like Wayne is the only person to say something controversial. Yes it;s disrespectful, but it's not the first time someone's done it

Well If I was talking to Trimss he can reply not you.

I never disagreed with anything you said so keep typing irrelevant posts.

bigray: Lance u a Wayne fan?
Lance: I use to be
bigray: how about now?
Lance: not anymore he is terrible

:facepalm

LOL wtf are you talking about, use your brain.

what you said is irrelevant, really, I still enjoy his old songs and I don't really feel most of his new songs... is that a big deal ? because I wasn't a fan of him, I listen to every artist because I want to make my own opinion...
Enjoying a song or an album =/= being fan of someone

"Well If I was talking to Trimss he can reply not you."

I talked about his fan base and you said to me " wtf are you talking about" and then trims pointed out that C4 is double platinum.
Then It's fair to say that if you were talking to me, you could reply but not him :flutter:

I'm done with you, You're doing the same shit in every thread, You did it with solace about drake, you did it with alm about macklemore, na man, let's stop here it's ridiculous.
It's obvious that you just want to kill Wayne's reputation on TR.

Even if his album helped a little bit, do you really think they bought more than 300 000 albums for him? No chance, actually.

A lot of his fans turned down on him, and there are a lot of new fans too. Here, everyone wears YMCMB snapbacks and hoodies. There are a lot of people who like him.. They're just not on forums. He has the second biggest fanbase after Eminem I'd say.

bigray wrote:Can you tell me why the significant sales drop for his album in the second week?

What is the sales right now US and WW for the Carter 4? I would think it is high up there.

Well in Canada that I know of he has a fan base but not huge and his fan base in Canada are the ages of 6 to 18.

Probably around 2 500 000. On november 11th 2011, it was certified platinum. Why did it drop so fast? Maybe word to mouth. People saying the album wasn't good. Or everyone wanted to buy it on the first week, I don't know.

bigray wrote:I would say Kanye and Jay both have a bigger and more loyal fan base than Wayne.

I have seen numerous pics and comments on Facebook dissing Wayne and pretty much the whole World is on Facebook.

I'm not saying everyone hates Lil Wayne he does have a pretty big fan base...I am just saying that he lost many fans now a days and was bigger before.

That's what I'm saying.. His fans buy records. Look at his facebook likes. A lot of dissing on other pages, but he's still one of the most popular.

And nah.. They don't have a bigger fanbase. Or their fanbase don't buy records, which means they're not really fans. The Carter IV sold more than MBDTF, Blueprint 3, or WTT.. Gotta admit when you're wrong brah.

Wayne has one of the strongest fanbase.
