Eh, what difference does it really make?

The most highly viewed videos are the same shitty songs that usually chart anyway. Maybe I just don't pay enough attention to that type of thing though...

Why will it affect Hip-hop really badly?

Surely it gives rappers like Hopsin/Tech N9ne more of a chance since they don't get radio play.

Right?

The types of songs that chart from radio will still chart, but it seems like it might be possible for artists that primarily have an online presence actually get a little more exposure. I'm sure it cuts both ways, but I don't think that it's going to make things worse, and it could actually make things better.

Maybe we're missing something really obvious though.

Yeah, I feel that could be the case.

But us?

na, it won't change anything for them, we're talking about artists that can have +100 M of views when they release a video.

I checked the hot 100 this week and the new artists who are in the top 100 all have tons of views on their video.

What Matters :

- Physical/digital sales
- radio spin
- Youtube but you really need tons of views on your video

It will only help Em if he doesn't release a single at the same time as some pop superstars

Ill mind of hopsin has 24M of views on youtube ( the video was uploaded 6 months ago) and Drake did the half of these views in only a week and unfortunately, his successful single is only #10 on the hot 100.

If you want to be ranked, you need solid sales and you need to be played on the radio.
If you want a good rank, you need solid sales, you need to be played a lot on the radio and you really need to be called Justin Bieber or Rihanna on youtube.

Drake couldn't do better than #10 and his single had a lot of success.

Yeah but Hopsin got a few million in a week. That would have to push the song up the chart for that week allowing more people to see his name and maybe check him out. I just dont see how this could hurt rap that much. I guarantee you wont see a big difference in the top 10 because of this anyway.

not really.

I decided to check the hot 100 of the week and the new artists who are charted all have tons of views on youtube.
Some of them had +100 Millions of views in a week, the others have more than 7-8 millions in a week but you really need to know that youtube views alone are pretty useless if you don't sell anything lol

In fact, there is already a difference... baauer went straight #1 because of the youtube views (+ streams) and Rihanna jumped from 57 to #3.
it only helped the big stars and those who have a lot of views on youtube lol

I still have no fucking idea what Harlem Shake is. I think of it like the Soujla Boy. It's only a phase. Anyway Katy Perry is terrible and so is Taylor Swift.

The way I judge music is if it's good or not is to listen to it. Numbers may not lie but they aren't facts. If numbers are solely facts than Lil Wayne is a better rapper than Tech N9ne and no one agrees with that. These Youtube numbers and downloads numbers that rank up are just an ego boost. You can say "yea my song had 500,00 views on Youtube." That doesn't mean your song is good or not.

As for hip-hop, it could help. Tech N9ne can get more Youtube views nowadays than Lil Wayne. Hopsin can gat more than Drake. YelaWolf can get a shit ton of views also. At the same time, dumbass muthafuckers still buy the music and Tech can't outsell Wayne in that.

It's not good for hip-hop but it may not be bad. It all depends on the artist. The only good I see from this is that artists who are terrible like Katy, Taylor, & Bieber get more hits and more money.

This system is fucking retard. Why can't Hopsin just release Knock Madness already? He had a shit ton of hype going after Ill Mind 5. It's time to show these people real and abolish the fake.

lol

wayne's new video has almost 10 M of views on youtube ( the video was released last week)
It takes tech n9ne ages to have +20 M of views on his most viewed videos and it takes Wayne a few months to have +100/200 M of views on a video

The video of Started from the bottom was released last week and the video has almost 14 Millions of views.
Drake is going to do Hopsin's numbers in only 2-3 weeks.
