A simple misunderstanding led to a very serious reaction from a Beaver County, Pennsylvania School earlier this week.

All the schools in the county were advised to lock down for about 20 minutes while police searched for a 19-year-old Ambridge Area High School student whose voicemail greeting, the "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" song, was taken as a gun threat.

The line from the Will Smith song, "shooting some b-ball outside of the school," was taken to say, "shooting some people outside of the school."

A receptionist had called the student's phone to remind him of an eye doctor appointment. Upon hearing the voicemail, she quickly called police. Schools were advised to commence lock-down procedures, and the student was quickly apprehended and placed in custody.

After explaining the situation, police determined that the voicemail was, in fact, the student rapping the intro to the hit '90s TV series.

Ambridge Area Superintendent Erv Weischedel gave a positive spin on the situation, reports TimesOnline.com. “It gave us a wonderful chance to review our emergency procedures,” he said. “It was a good drill that went very, very well.”

Lol, true, but not everyone knows the song, and I don't know if police also listened to the voicemail or not. It was the lady who told them, right? Did they listen to it first, or did they just go ahead and have a lock down?

I thought it was kind of strange that they actually detained him and had to have him actually tell them what it was about. I get the lockdown procedures and all that, but it seems like at some point, they would have decided to actually listen for themselves and determine what was being said. Better safe than sorry, I suppose.

God knows that if something had actually happened, we'd be talking the merits of the smoking gun voice mail greeting in Serious Debate, and watching poorly made YouTube videos demonstrating the "truth" about how it was all a big conspiracy put on by the guv'ment.

The irony is that of all the verses, from all of the rappers in the world, this guy chose what would arguably be one of the strongest combinations of ubiquitous and benign conceivable.
